[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is always a name I’ve had in mind for a future child and, realistically, that will probably be their name.
However, I’m getting a new puppy soon and I’m really obsessed with the name [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] for her! Are these too similar to use?
Am not planning on children for at least 5 years, probably more like 7-8, but the puppy will be a particularly long-lived breed (~15yrs) so would still be alive by then.
Visually, I know they look very similar but they are pronounced differently ([name_f]ROZ[/name_f]-a-lind versus [name_f]ROSE[/name_f]-a-lee). What do you think? Can I use [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]?
Here’s the thing I was all like “no it’s fine” but as you are saying that this dog will likely be around when the child is around and even a while after (by my calculations if this child is born when the dog is 8 and the dog dies at 15 then the child will be about 7) I would go yes it is too close. My first thoughts are [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelind[/name_f].
I’m just not sure how realistic it is that you’ll use [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] in 5-10 years. For me, top spots change every 6 months.
I think the names are too close and you’ll want to call both [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/ [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] for short - way prettier than [name_f]Ros[/name_f].
So, it’s really whether you think you’ll have a kid, have a daughter, have a partner who loves the name and not have another fave at some point in 5-10 years’ time.
This is all a lot of if’s, so I would use the name [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] for your dog and take your chances!
It does seem like a lot of “if’s” but I’m a pretty stubborn person! I have planned to adopt 1 girl for about ten years now and that plan hasn’t really changed-- and the name [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] has been the top of my list for nearly as long as that! So all in all, it is pretty likely . . . so maybe I should go with another name. I just love those [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names so much!
They’re definitely way too close imo and, as you sound pretty certain on ultimately using [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], I’d opt for a different name. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecilie[/name_f]?
