Are Rose Names Overused?

I’ve seen a few people post about how [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names are too common anymore. I know [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are all in the top 1000. However, I don’t know any little girls with this name. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is at the top of my list for a little girl, but does this still sound fresh or is it like being introduced to another [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]?

From my experience [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names are quite overused in the middle but are still lovely as first names. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is far from [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s level of popularity. In 2014 there were about 18490 Sophias born (this spelling only) whereas there were only 529 Rosemarys born.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] feels very fresh to me ^^

I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are the only ones in danger of being overused, the others are a little too eccentric to become off the charts popular. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is sweet, universally so, and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is faultless, though a little dull (this doesn’t stop most people!). [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] will be a little too old-lady for the kind of sky-rocketing [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] has been climbing really fast the past five years (from #840 to #310), [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is also only going up. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] actually fell last year, though she is trending slightly upwards… [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is nowhere on the list, and has never been as popular as the other three. [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] seems to be steadily falling, though there are slight upticks every now and then (last year as an example). [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] is close to unused.

I agree with the others. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] feels veyr fresh to me. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is only overused (in my region of the world) in the middle name slot. I would find it refreshing in the FN position. Definetely nowhere near the level of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] in popularity.

I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is getting really tired as a MIDDLE name, but I don’t know any little first-named [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]'s! I think it would be lovely as a first name and unexpected on a little one.

I only find [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] a bit overused, and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle name. [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Roseanna[/name_f], Rosaura, [name_f]Rosalba[/name_f], [name_f]Rosita[/name_f], [name_f]Rhoswen[/name_f], etc. all feel fresh to me. None of them are [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] level; I wouldn’t worry.

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a filler middle name but most aren’t brave enough to use [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a fn.

I find [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] dull & matronly. [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] is fresher & very underused

I personally only know two [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]'s…one is probably in her fifties (her first name is just [name_f]Rose[/name_f]), the other just turned six (her full name is [name_f]Ro[/name_f]$eileen). I know a few people that have the mn [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but it’s not near the popularity of [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] or [name_f]Marie[/name_f].
My favorite [name_f]Rose[/name_f] name is [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] is okay. Not a big fan of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. I’m neutral to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] on its own.

*[name_m]Just[/name_m] remembered I do know of someone named [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (she goes by the whole name), she is in her late forties.

I agree with previous posters - [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is overused in the MN slot, but I think [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Roslyn[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], etc. are lovely choices for either the middle or first name - not even close to the popularity of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] in my opinion!

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] names aren’t over used necessarily but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle is incredibly common (in my area at least). I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] isn’t super over used as a first name (again, in my area) but it is fairly common. The other variations aren’t overused to my knowledge but I agree that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] could probably become over used as people end up wanting a more “unique” variation of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and that seems to be an easy transition or jump to make. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] doesn’t feel overused at all

It feels like every second little girl has [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle name but no, still very underused in the first name spot.

I think only [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is overused.

[name_f]Rosaria[/name_f]
Rozenn
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]-[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
And my favorite: Rosamay/Rosamae/Rosamée

I don’t think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names are overused at all. I’ve only ever known one [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (goes by [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]) and one [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and that’s about it
