I’m looking for a full name for the nickname [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]. I do like [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] as a name in its own right, but I would love to find a full name that I like just as much, and that would feel more “complete” next to my other favourites like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].
So far I’ve thought of:
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] - I really don’t like it. I immediately get “take me home, country roads” stuck in my head when I hear it, and I dislike the “virgin” part.
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] - It’s okay, but it feels a bit too clunky. I can’t imagine myself referring to a child as [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f], and I stumble pronouncing the “vr” part.
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - I really like this name, but I have a horrible, bratty cousin with it. Otherwise I’d be sold!
Are there any other names that could be shortened to [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]? T.i.a!
What about…
[name_f]Iphigenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
[name_u]Genesis[/name_u]
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ginger[/name_f]
[name_f]Regina[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogene[/name_f] - still too close to cousin’s name?
Genevieve was my first thought too! There’s also [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but both feel possibly a little grand next to your other favourites.
@VividSonata@katinka I do like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. I was unsure if it would work since I pronounce the first part like “jen” not “jin”, would [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] get confused with [name_f]Jenny[/name_f]? Also the pronunciation debate surrounding the name scares me away from it a little bit. It is really pretty though.
Guinevere and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] are some of my guilty pleasures! They’re both so magical, I don’t know if I’d use them irl but I do love them. [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is also the name of a character from one of my favourite book series as a child.
Wow so many options! I like [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]. Sadly I think [name_f]Imogene[/name_f] is a bit too close to the cousin, I know if I said the name to my mum she would quite likely be appalled! Thank you for your help
Maybe [name_f]Virgilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ginger[/name_f] or [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwyneira[/name_f] or Glenavon or [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]?
