[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of these names? if so which on?
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m]
[name_m]Bretton[/name_m]
Broden
[name_m]Caddock[/name_m]
I actually really like Broden and you can use the NN [name_m]Brody[/name_m] if you like! I feel like that name will start to grow on me fast and maybe become a contender for my little man!
[name_m]Bretton[/name_m] to me is a LN, since I know someone with that LN so I couldn’t see it as a FN.
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m], it sounds too made up to me
[name_m]Caddock[/name_m], for some reason I can only think of a fish and I don’t know if that is a good thing!
Broden would be the only one that I would consider, as for you if there is some sort of connection with them to you then it wouldn’t be weird if you used them!
I agree with the PP. Broden is the only usable one for me personally. [name_m]Caddock[/name_m] sounds made up, and [name_m]Cashel[/name_m] sounds like a mash up of [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_m]Cash[/name_m]. I’d prefer [name_u]Brett[/name_u]/[name_f]Brighton[/name_f] over [name_m]Bretton[/name_m].
Short answer: yes.
[name_m]Long[/name_m] answer, it depends how brave you are, I suppose. I have an Irish cousin named [name_m]Cathal[/name_m] (I’m not sure how it’s spelled), which people in general (who are not Irish) would probably think I made up if I used it. That will likely be the response if you used these. I’m not saying they are made up – I am just not aware of their origins. I would love to know them, though, if you are willing to share.
Here are my snap judgments on the names:
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m] – reminds me of my cousin’s name, so I would assume Irish ancestry, though I’ve never heard of this name. Also sort of makes me think someone liked the name [name_m]Cash[/name_m], but wanted to be different.
[name_m]Bretton[/name_m] – makes me think of the place in [name_m]New[/name_m] Hampshire or that someone didn’t know how to spell [name_m]Breton[/name_m] (which also isn’t a name, but is more familiar than [name_m]Bretton[/name_m])
Broden – makes me think someone liked either the name [name_m]Brody[/name_m] or the “-aden” trend but is trying to be different.
[name_m]Caddock[/name_m] – this one just makes me cringe and make a “yuck” face. Sorry. Witches come to mind as well for some reason.
I’m not trying to be mean; I’m just trying to give you an idea of what people might think of them. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] it helps!
Broden is pretty alright
I don’t like anything with [name_m]Cash[/name_m] in it.
[name_m]Bretton[/name_m] is just OK. [name_m]Breton[/name_m] I would like better.
Broden no, I prefer [name_m]Brogan[/name_m] or [name_m]Belden[/name_m].
[name_m]Caddock[/name_m] rhymes with the fish, haddock.
I like [name_m]Brogan[/name_m], [name_m]Caradoc[/name_m], [name_m]Cadogan[/name_m], [name_u]Madigan[/name_u], [name_m]Calhoun[/name_m], [name_u]Clancy[/name_u], [name_u]Grady[/name_u]…
I like [name_m]Cashel[/name_m] for its meaning–round stone fortress. I have a variation of this name (accidentally…my parents were being kre8tive), but it holds personal meaning for me. I can see where the pronunciation might be confusing for people, though.
Broden seems made up to me, but I like [name_m]Boden[/name_m] which is a great alternative or [name_m]Broderick[/name_m] if you want to get [name_m]Brody[/name_m] as a nickname.
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m] is handsome, I think it could work.
[name_m]Bretton[/name_m] is ok but I prefer just [name_u]Brett[/name_u], [name_m]Bretton[/name_m] reminds me of [name_f]Brighton[/name_f] also.
[name_m]Caddock[/name_m], I prefer the [name_m]Cadoc[/name_m] spelling. I think [name_m]Cadoc[/name_m] could be useable but you have to be prepared to spell it for everyone since its a rare name (same with the other three although [name_m]Bretton[/name_m] some people might assume)
I love [name_m]Cashel[/name_m]! Wasn’t it on here recently as a fresh, new name? It’s also a castle in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. I think [name_m]Bretton[/name_m] is great too! Broden is fine and naturally leads to [name_m]Brody[/name_m]. I’m not crazy about [name_m]Caddock[/name_m] because it leads to Cad, but all of these names work!
Thumbs down to all but [name_m]Cadoc[/name_m].
They seem very close to more ‘normal’ names eg like they have just had few letters altered to make them ‘different’. Eg [name_m]Bretton[/name_m] would nearly always have to clarify that he is not [name_m]Brenton[/name_m] or [name_m]Brendan[/name_m] when introducing himself, and regularly be asked to ‘spell it’. I have an unusual name and am happy that way, but if you have an unusual name, it is much easier if it not too close to a common name and quite phonetic - it keeps the explanation that comes with every introduction down a little. Ie my advice when picking an uncommon name is to say it out loud to someone and see if they write it easily and correctly.
I absolutely love [name_m]Bretton[/name_m] and Broden! I’ve never heard them before and I think they’re fantastic!
They’re definitely unique but still classy.
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m] I’ve heard a few times before, but is still a very nice name especially with the nicame [name_m]Cash[/name_m].
Im not a huge fan of [name_m]Caddock[/name_m] personally. It sounds kind of choppy and out of place…
But that’s just me.
[name_m]Bretton[/name_m] and Broden are ok, I wouldn’t personally use them though. [name_m]Cashel[/name_m] is too much for me, and [name_m]Caddock[/name_m] honestly sounds like a Cod+Haddock hybrid.
I love [name_m]Bretton[/name_m]. Have you considered [name_m]Boden[/name_m], [name_m]Brodie[/name_m], and [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]?
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m]- any person with any Irish ancestry would know the name is not made up. If you live in eastern [name_f]Canada[/name_f], Mount [name_m]Cashel[/name_m] was an ophanage where horrible child abuse occurred so it wouldn’t be a choice that I could make with a good conscience. [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] winning actor [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]Day[/name_u]-[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] has a son with this name.
[name_m]Bretton[/name_m] - more of a surname to me.
Broden - I dislike this one. Names beginning with “Br” are a time a dozen.
[name_m]Caddock[/name_m] - sounds fishy like a mix of cod and haddock. [name_m]Caradoc[/name_m] is much cooler.
The [name_m]Rock[/name_m] of [name_m]Cashel[/name_m], also known as [name_m]Cashel[/name_m] of the Kings and St. [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]'s [name_m]Rock[/name_m], is a historic site located at [name_m]Cashel[/name_m], County Tipperary, [name_f]Ireland[/name_f].
I am glad some people caught the [name_m]Cashel[/name_m] - to the Irish Castle! thats awesome. [name_m]Bretton[/name_m] is a Scottish thing referrring to people from Britian I believe. I love Scottish/Irish names, I got these all on a scottish name list. Only ones that really caught my eye.
