i’m writing a story and the main character’s name is [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], and the father of one of the other main characters is named [name_u]Robert[/name_u], and there might be a scene where they interact. i want to know if i should change Robert’s name because it ends in a T just like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] does, or if i just shouldn’t worry about. my friends have told me i tend to overthink when naming my characters so i probably am, but i want to know what other people think.
It’s absolutely fine in my opinion!

It’s perfectly fine! I’ve had stories with characters [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] (Isabella and Ella) that interacted more than once, but I never thought much of it!

The names are both very recognizable and distinct. Not a problem at all.

The two are phonetically sounded out different, so as long as the surnames are different you should be fine keeping them separate.

I don’t think it’s a problem! They have a different number of syllables and both names just sound very different.

I think it’s okay. They don’t seem too matchy in my honest opinion.
