Are these initials odd for a girl?

My daughter’s last name will be Day. I love a lot of names that start with E and I want to give her a middle name that starts with Z. But I am afraid that people may call her E.Z. Day, which I would hate (it sounds like easy day). Am I thinking too much about this? Or could this be a problem?

I dont think it will be an issue. Most people only ever use initials in written form and even then just their first and last initial. I cant think of a time Ive ever had to say my first and middle initials with my last name outloud

I think it’s okay! Normally with initials I see people putting the last name with it and not just the first and middle name. So in that case it would be EZD which makes me think of eased or zed the prononciation of Z in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]

If it is something you’re really worried about I think putting another middle name into the name would help so it would be different initials

Maybe there’s a family member you’d like to honour, or another name you come across and love

But even if there isn’t another name you like I don’t think the initials are bad at all!

(Not like she’d be ASS, HOE or FART)

Totally fine! [name_m]Easy[/name_m] day isn’t a problem at all, and I doubt many people would even know her middle initial anyway.

(Z is zed for me, not zee).

One of my daughter’s first and last initials are E.T., and literally no one has ever mentioned it. I think people worry too much about initials!

In Britian Z is pronounced ZED. Personally, I don’t think anyone would make such a connection. I did not think ‘easy day’ at all when I saw E.Z. [name_f]Day[/name_f].

I would say ‘Z’ as ‘zed’ so it’s not such a big deal for me, but I can imagine if you said ‘zee’ it does sound like easy day. I don’t think she’d get called by that often though - it’s kind of fun, but not something that rolls off the tongue as a nickname.

I don’t think the initials sound odd a lot- I’ve seen a lot worse, and even after reading them easy day wouldn’t come to mind. People also don’t look at initials that much, so it’ll rarely even come up.

i really can’t imagine this being an issue. i’ve never heard someone be referred to like that (initials + surname), it feels like a reach and very unlikely. even if someone did, ‘easy day’ isn’t significant enough as a phrase to make sense as a nickname from there, so i can’t imagine her being called that more than once. when i’ve seen people’s initials be written, it’s always either just the first initial + the surname, or all three.

(obvious exception is in the pen name of authors like j.r.r. tolkien but they clearly chose to be designated like that so it feels distinctly different)

I would totally call her EZ [name_f]Day[/name_f]. Sorry! It’s so cute.

I don’t think it’s a problem! I think most of the time people won’t even realize what her initials are. There’s very few instances where you’re actually writing or using your inititals. I say go for it!

I think you’re overthinking it slightly and it’ll be a non issue.

I feel like she would totally get EZ if classmates know her middle initial is Z. Coming from someone who calls friends- MK, MJ, CK, etc…

I kind of like it… but if it bothers you, I’d prob try to avoid :woman_shrugging:t3:

This would actually bother me. It’s not like it spells out something awful… but actually thinking about it just EZ without the [name_f]Day[/name_f] part could have awful teasing potential for a girl down the line in the horrible misogynistic world we live in… it’s unlikely any classmates at the age such teasing might occur would ever be aware of the middle initial unless they were told, but I personally couldn’t love the name while trying to hedge my bets that no one would find out about the middle initial…it would tarnish it for me.
