are these initials too much?

I am brand new to nameberry as a member, so Im still learning how to post and reply and all the good stuff.

I have been thinking about naming baby girl [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. These names mean a lot to my family, as [name]Felicity[/name] is my moms name and [name]Claire[/name] is my husband’s grandma’s middle name. My only issue with the name is its initials FCK since my last name starts with a K. Oh no! I just dont think I could through with it! But I love the name! What do you guys think?? Am I cruel for even still considering it? I am willing to branch out and not use family names. But my first preference would be to have a name with meaning.

Names I also like, but not so much [name]Love[/name]
[name]Paxon[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Bennet[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Londyn[/name]
[name]Avalon[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]

Names in my family potentially for middle names
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Traci[/name]
[name]Ellen[/name]
[name]Kathy[/name] (not [name]Katherine[/name], just [name]Kathy[/name])
[name]Elaine[/name]

I wouldn’t say it’s cruel, because you certainly didn’t intend for the initials to work out that way. Nevertheless, I think it would be best to avoid those initials. Maybe going with [name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] would lighten the blow, but if not, how about:

[name]Heidi[/name] [name]Ellen[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Traci[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Londyn[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Avalon[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]

What about a second MN? That way you could still keep [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name], but not have those negative initials. Something like [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Elaine[/name] K_____ or something? [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Aurora[/name]? [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]? Or even something like [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Claire[/name]/[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Claire[/name]…

Good luck!

If the initials are a concern, I don’t know if any of your middle name choices starting with E would help (FEK takes you to a difficult place, sound-wise).

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is really pretty, and she could just go by [name]Felicity[/name].

[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Londyn[/name] is pleasant, too.

I don’t see what’s wrong with it, am I crazy?
I like [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] a lot, it’s so pretty!!

I hate to say it because [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is so pretty, but FCK for initials is too much. All I can see is the backpacks kids carry with their initials on them. [name]Even[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] K (FK) is pushing it but not so bad. Sorry. I think you might need to avoid C names and names that start with vowels. FAK, FEK is also not a good place sound wise.

[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is gorgeous, but… the full-name initials would be an embarrassment for her, so it is unusable in this case. I would strongly consider [name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name], which is also a beautiful name and eliminates the initials problem.

I think it’s fine considering a monogram would be FKC

FCK is definitely a huge no from me, sorry. :frowning:

I love [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name], so I’d tell you to go for it! Not many people even know my middle name and out of those who do, I doubt anyone has ever thought about what my initials spell (well, nothing, but ykwim).

Monograms seem to be an American thing. Here in [name]Canada[/name] I’ve only seen them on saddle pads for horseback riding, and people choose what to use- some just their first, mine is my first initial and full LN (it’s short so it works). So if you’re Canadian (or British, etc.?) you needn’t worry too much about how the initials look together.

Thanks Guys! Im so saddened so many agree with me on the initials. Im just so in love with the name, I am considering a second middle name to still preserve the beauty of it. [name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is an option but it doesnt roll as well. Outside of a family middle name what name goes well with [name]Felicity[/name]?

While I agree that [name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] doesn’t flow as well, I feel it’s a much better alternative to FCK. [name]Even[/name] if you called her by her mn, it wouldn’t be so bad to have to do so.

Honestly, it wouldn’t bother me… I can’t think of a time where I’ve ever used my full set of initials for anything, even in school. [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is gorgeous. And one day she’s gonna get married and then her initials probably won’t be FCK anymore. [name]Add[/name] a second middle name if it makes you more comfortable though.

As a daycare worker I have noticed a new trend in monogrammed items. Where it used to be first initial last initial middle initial. I’m seeing whole first and middle names. That and full first names on backpacks

Are you sure you can’t just add a second middle name? [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Ellen[/name] K - FCEK? [name]Don[/name]'t see any problem at all.

Thanks Guys! Im so saddened so many agree with me on the initials. But of course I understand why lol. Otherwise this wouldnt be a question. You guys are so helpful! Im just so in love with the name, I am considering a second middle name to still preserve the beauty of it. [name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is an option but it doesnt roll as well. Outside of a family middle name what name goes well with [name]Felicity[/name]?

I would add a second middle. Preferably one that begins with a consonant so you are not spelling something else eg. FCUK/FCEK is just as bad if not worse than FCK.
Why not
[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Paxon[/name] K-------

[name]How[/name] many syllables is your last name? It would help with suggestions for the second middle

[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is a beautiful name

[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Traci[/name] [name]Claire[/name] K. breaks up your issue a bit…

I think a second middle is your best bet because both names mean a lot to you.

I think switching the name order to [name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] would help. You could always use [name]Felicity[/name] as her spoken name. That said, initials may be written several ways. When written with a larger last name initial in the center, and the first and middle initials on either side of the last name initial, [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] reads like this: FKC (with the K being a larger size font to stand out). If this gives you pause for concern, stick with the names you truly love and just change the order to [name]Claire[/name] [name]Felicity[/name], and call her [name]Felicity[/name]. It’s a lovely name either way!

I know a kid who’s initials are A.S.S. His name is [name]Andrew[/name] [name]Steven[/name] (Last Name), which is respectable, but unfortunately, his last name starts with an ‘S’. It wasn’t good when kids got wind of it.

[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name] has a nice ring to it, but she may want her initials monogrammed. While FKC isn’t bad, some kid is going to figure out that her initials are really FCK. And it’s going to suck.
