Our daughter’s names is [name]Ella[/name]. I am due soon and I really like the name [name]Layla[/name], but are they too similar sounding?
I think it is a bit tongue-twistery, yeah. I think they might just hear the “la” at the end and either always come running or always assume you were talking about the other sister. Then again, my sister and I both have rhyming names ([name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name]), and I always know when my mom’s calling me and when she’s calling [name]Tallie[/name], so it might not be an issue. I think [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Layla[/name] are closer than [name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Natalie[/name], though.
If you really love it, I think it’s usable, but I do get tripped up trying to say “[name]Ella[/name] and [name]Layla[/name]”, a little.
Good luck!
They are pretty similar. Personally, I’d go with something else.
It wouldn’t bother me at all.
Though I really like both names, I don’t like that they both end in “la”, both have dominant “L” sounds and both have 2 syllables…just a little too matchey for sisters, in my opinion, and as ash said, a bit of a tongue twister!
