I have two names that feel like the “one”: [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f].
I know they are both gemstones, but beyond that are they too matchy in sound? Written down they are a bit to me, but spoken, surprisingly not.
I’m also open to name suggestions for the middle name [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] - but in the style of [name_f]Coral[/name_f] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f].
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] are both utterly gorgeous. [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] sounds more ethereal whereas [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] sounds more substantial.
I see no problem in either how they look on paper or sound. They are all “real” names (as opposed to newly minted names).
As for a different start ( ____ [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]), you could use [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Topaz[/name_f], [name_f]Peridot[/name_f], [name_f]Agate[/name_f], [name_f]Emerald[/name_f], [name_f]Garnet[/name_f], or many other jewel names, but I think [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is perfect: fresh yet old-fashioned and luminous from within.
PS Oops, I may have misunderstood - if you are looking for a different middle for [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. Personally, I love [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] where you put it.
I think they are a little similar, as in, I do notice the similarity when I see and say them, but I don’t think it is over the top “matchy” (like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f], or something). I personally wouldn’t use them together, but that is just me… you could probably get away with it as they are very different names really.
Thank you for the responses so far!
Lesliemarion, it’s my priority to keep [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] in the middle spot! Thank you for the suggestions!
The double -al ending is what makes them so matchy on paper; out loud, I agree with you, it’s not too matchy.
I think [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] are darling sister names. I really love [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] with [name_f]Opal[/name_f].
I adore [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s too matchy with [name_f]Coral[/name_f] (though they’re admittedly similar enough to where I wouldn’t use them together unless I had a gem theme going).
Also, can I just say, since it looks like you’re expecting a boy and a girl… I love the idea of [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] as a twin set! The “p” links them nicely without being too much, and they’re both unfairly neglected vintage names.
I love the idea of sisters [name_f]Opal[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f]! Both such cute names. I also love [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], as a previous poster suggested.
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is definitely perfect where it is. I don’t think you really need our help ;]
