I’m really loving [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Lyle[/name] for boys. However, not only have I heard they’re nerdy, but also some people say that they sound like pet names.
I’m okay with sort of a “hipster/nerdy” vibe like [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Simon[/name], but I’m not for going legit nerdy like [name]Leonard[/name], [name]Eugene[/name] or [name]Melvin[/name]…
I think I’m most concerned with the idea of people saying they sound like pet names. And what about [name]Lyle[/name] the Crocodile? [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Lovett[/name]? Are these associations still strong enough to make [name]Lyle[/name] a deal-breaker?
Middle name for both would most likely be [name]James[/name] or [name]Jameson[/name]. [name]James[/name] is my husband’s name and [name]Jason[/name] is his brother’s name.
I think they’re perfectly fine! [name]Milo[/name] seems to be pretty popular on nameberry, and [name]Lyle[/name] is a name I haven’t heard in so long that I almost forgot about it.
I wouldn’t say [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Lyle[/name] are nerdy at all! I wouldn’t say they’re pet names either. Anyway, people call their pets [name]Max[/name], [name]Rex[/name], [name]Bella[/name] etc and kids with those names get on ok.
I have no idea who [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Lovett[/name] is or what [name]Lyle[/name] the Crocodile is, probably because I’m in the UK. I’ve only heard [name]Lyle[/name] once- on a grown man who was very athletic and outgoing, so it makes me think of him. Also makes me think of [name]Lyle[/name]'s syrup and treacle but I don’t think they have that in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name]. [name]Shame[/name] because it’s AMAZING
As for [name]Milo[/name], I like it a little better than [name]Lyle[/name]. I’ve heard it on a few boys in my area. It’s just a pure boy name to me.
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] and [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] are great. [name]Jameson[/name] is such a brilliant way to include both your husband and his brother!
[name]Milo[/name] is a Nameberry favorite, so I know you’ll get a lot of praise for that one here. [name]Lyle[/name] is a name that I never hear brought up, even on this website, and I would love to see it used. It’s the perfect replacement for the dated [name]Kyle[/name].
I think [name]Milo[/name] can be a popular pet name, but not [name]Lyle[/name]. Instead of [name]Lyle[/name], you could go with [name]Kyle[/name]. And as for [name]Milo[/name], how about [name]Miles[/name], nn [name]Milo[/name]?
Milo James - very handsome
Lyle Jameson - also very handsome!
I think [name]Lyle[/name] [name]James[/name] would be fabulous fabulous fabulous. Or [name]Leon[/name] [name]James[/name], if you want a less nerdy [name]Leonard[/name].
I’m hearing [name]Milo[/name] a lot on fancy [name]Brooklyn[/name] playgrounds. Yupster name, imo. It doesn’t have the same manly edge that [name]Lyle[/name] has.
[name]Milo[/name] and [name]Lyle[/name] are actually on my list…so I approve! I do not think they sound too pet-like. I am also a first grade teacher here in the states and my students never talk about [name]Lyle[/name] Crocodile…I think if you name a kid [name]Lyle[/name], they will DEFINITELY be given a copy of the book by someone, but that the association won’t last past the younger years. I don’t even think my students have ever heard of the book (I’ll ask them on [name]Monday[/name]!) I also have no idea who [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Lovett[/name] is…
I am not a fan of [name]Lyle[/name], but I think [name]Milo[/name] is great! [name]How[/name] about [name]Miles[/name], nn [name]Milo[/name]. [name]Miles[/name] kind of sounds like [name]Lyle[/name], but it is a little more likeable and you can use [name]Milo[/name] as a nickname.
These are both absolutely acceptable names. No way people still think [name]Milo[/name] is a pet’s name. First of all, the only [name]Milo[/name] (pet) I’ve ever known is from the movie, but maybe people I know just come up with really creative names for their pets, who knows. But mainly, [name]Milo[/name] is becoming much more popular (not in a bad way! just more well-known) as a boy’s name. Didn’t [name]Liv[/name] [name]Tyler[/name] name her son this? People talk about it on here all the time. This is all boy, not at all dog, cat, etc., to me.
[name]Lyle[/name] is a bit on the nerdy side, but that doesn’t stop me from loving it. It feels very fresh to me and I would absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] to meet a little [name]Lyle[/name]. Oh the praise I would heap on that boy’s mother with regard to her son’s name. I would just be thrilled. I have heard of [name]Lyle[/name] the Crocodile, but I can’t recall exactly what it is – some kind of kids’ story presumably. And I bet people don’t even remember [name]Lyle[/name] [name]Lovett[/name] anymore, certainly not when your child is older. I would not think of either of these associations if I met a little [name]Lyle[/name]. And this definitely is not a pet’s name. I think the people you know just have very strange names for their pets.
[name]Milo[/name] DID sound like a dogs name to me, but I did know a dog called [name]Milo[/name]. But since then I’ve known of loads of child [name]Milo[/name]'s, and now the name isn’t a dogs name to me, at all! Coming from a mother of an [name]Arlo[/name], I definitely think it’s usable. It’s popular enough now to not be weird. (but it’s still not mega common, at least where I’m from.)
[name]Lyle[/name] is a great name too! It sounds more nerdy than [name]Milo[/name] but if I heard of a boy called [name]Lyle[/name], I wouldn’t instantly think ‘NERD!!’ when someone mentioned them. I really like it and I think it’s definitely usable!
