Are these names too similar for twins?

Expecting boy/girl twins and I like [name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] but do you think they are too similar?

For me, they are too close

Unfortunately, these are too similar especially since the only difference is the initial vowel. Maybe [name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] or [name_m]Alwin[/name_m] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]?

Too similar for me  it would be a tongue twister .

Maybe [name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] . [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] is a pretty name but it’s easier to say or [name_m]Alden[/name_m] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] ? A little less hard to say :star:

Yes, both for getting them mixed up and because it’s too matchy-matchy twee for me. Fine to use them both as middle names if they’re honour names.

They would definitely be too similar for me, sorry. You’ve had some lovely suggestions on how to use similar names though

The same first letter or a similar/complimentary meanings would be the most I’d personally be willing to match twins.

I agree with the others, too matchy unfortunately! I just see it getting confusing.

Instead of [name_m]Allen[/name_m], maybe [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], [name_m]Alex[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_m]Owen[/name_m]

Instead of [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] / [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

A little too close for my liking

Unfortunately, I agree that they are too similar.

Alternatives to [name_m]Allen[/name_m]:

Alternatives to [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]:
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] / [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f]

They are for me. I’m quite picky about matchy sibling names, though, while many people love matchy names.

Slight tweaks would make it a lot better/more stately in my eyes.

[name_m]Adam[/name_m] & [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] & [name_m]Allen[/name_m]
[name_f]Allene[/name_f] & [name_m]Elliott[/name_m]
[name_f]Alena[/name_f] & [name_f]Ellison[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] & [name_m]Allen[/name_m]

Yep much too close.

in my accent they sound almost identical. some alternatives could be

[name_m]Adler[/name_m] & [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_m]Aiden[/name_m] & [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] & [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f]
[name_m]Allen[/name_m] & [name_f]Etta[/name_f]

Yes, they are. There is only a slight difference in the way I say both of them.

Yes, I think they’re too similar. They’re only one letter different and I think they’d get confused a lot.

Maybe if you like the sounds of those names, you’d like…
[name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_f]Alana[/name_f]
[name_m]Alex[/name_m] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_m]Aldo[/name_m] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f]

This sounds like a nightmare. Both names are totally fine on their own, but they are wayyyyyy too similar together. What about [name_m]Allen[/name_m] & [name_f]Elle[/name_f]?

I also thought about [name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Nella[/name_f] since it is [name_m]Allen[/name_m] spelled Backwards but I also like [name_f]Nelle[/name_f] and would be [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] spelled backwards. They are both honor names but I feel a bit stronger about keeping [name_m]Allen[/name_m] as it is than [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] as I am thinking of calling her [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] anyway.

[name_m]Welcome[/name_m] to Nameberry! [name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] are timeless, lovely names, but I do think they’re too similar. What about swapping one out for something similar, like:

[name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Albert[/name_m]
[name_m]Alden[/name_m] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Fallon[/name_f] and [name_m]Elliot[/name_m]

[name_m]Or[/name_m] you could use one of them as a middle? Like [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] [name_m]Allen[/name_m] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]?

Good luck!

[name_m]Allen[/name_m] & [name_f]Nelle[/name_f] would be great!
