I have a daughter named [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] (mostly called [name_u]Elia[/name_u]) and my husband and I are having a hard time agreeing on a name for our second.
We both really love [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lina[/name_f]) but now I’m starting to think it may be too similar. At first I thought they just sounded nice together and the nicknames would be very different, but now I’m second guessing everything of course.
You are right they are both similar, but I think they are not too similar that their names will be mixed up or you won’t potentially be able to find a name for a third child, I think they flow nicely with each other, following a similar flow without being matchy matchy (e.g [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] and [name_u]Ellison[/name_u], which all could easily be nicknamed “[name_u]Elia[/name_u]”) plus [name_u]Elia[/name_u] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] sound great together If that is the name you both love I say go for it. Goodluck.
I agree with pp, they’re similar but not too similar. [name_u]Elia[/name_u] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] would be too cute I wouldn’t use [name_f]Lina[/name_f] because it shares a prominent sound with [name_u]Elia[/name_u], which could end up being confusing.
They’re too similar for my personal taste to use as siblings. But apart from that I don’t think people would get them confused or think it’s ridiculous. So you could use them together, but personally I’d look for an alternative.
I think the nicknames sound great together but the full names are too close for me. You could look for something else that would get you to the nickname of [name_f]Evie[/name_f], like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]?
Thanks for all the opinions so far! I really do love them together so I think I just need to think on it some more…or else find something we both love even more. I’m not a big fan of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and the only other name we can agree on is [name_u]Avery[/name_u], but it’s just so popular right now.
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] are both very popular right now, and I agree that [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is prettier.
To answer your question, no, I don’t think [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] are too similar to use for siblings. Honestly, people use far more matchy sibling names all the time so it’s really just a matter of personal taste! For my part, I think they make a great sibset! ”
