Are these names too vintage?
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucile[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Pauline[/name_f]
[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]

Not at all - vintage names are pretty trendy right now. They would fit in perfectly with other vintage choices that are popular right now. None of these are overly popular - [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is getting used quite frequently. But they would fit in perfectly with all of her classmates [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]…all in the top 100.

Oh, there’s no such thing as too vintage  that’s my motto lol.

I will say though, some of the names on your list have seen some good success in crossing the gap, or however you want to phrase it. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] I wouldn’t call common, but they’ve seen some more use these days, apparently. [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] is aided by actresses/TV personalities such as [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_u]Page[/name_u] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] DeGeneris (probably spelled that wrong). I think that [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Lucile[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] will be a bit slower to gain favor but they aren’t bad names.

I’ve taught children named [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] (actually my god daughter’s name as well!), [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. The only name on your list I don’t like it [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. Other then that they are all on my list of name loves! [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] would actually be in my top 10 for a baby, but my SO dislikes both. (But loves [name_f]Mae[/name_f], go figure.)

Thank you all so much for our replies!

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]: Maybe? I am not a fan of the corn sound at the beginning. Unrelated, I know.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: No, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a classic!
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]: I think so, but I could see it coming back.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]: No! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], absolutely beautiful!
[name_f]Lucile[/name_f]: I’d use two l’s but, no, I love [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]!
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]: No, never! [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is one of my favorites!
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]: So-so on this one. Can’t really say.
[name_f]Pauline[/name_f]: Yes, completely.
[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]: Yes, again.
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]: No! Not my fave, but definitely a great name. [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] is also a cute nn.

I’d also suggest [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Nell[/name_f]! I also love [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], but don’t know if I’d have the guts to use it.

Hmm… right now I think the older the name, the easier it will be to use again. So “too vintage” to me might actually be “too young”, as in older names we still think of in a negative, ‘I can’t use that’ way. Of your list, I think [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] and [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] are the only two that jump out at me as not yet ready for revival. The others are either so classic they won’t go out of style ([name_f]Ellen[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]) or are old enough to come back in ([name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]).

Absolutely not! The only ones I really don’t care for are [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. But the rest are wonderful name choices:) Especially [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. They are such winning vintage comebacks.

I don’t really think there is such a thing as too vintage, and I wouldn’t consider it a bad thing anyway. I really like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], and think all of them are perfectly usable.

I’m all about vintage, so I think most of these are perfect.

I actually really like all those names! Maybe they are vintage. So what?

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are my favorites on your list.
