Are these names "Trying too hard?"

I just came across [name_u]Paine[/name_u] for a name and i can’t tell if i like it or not. I’ve also like [name_m]Peirce[/name_m], [name_m]Adler[/name_m], [name_f]Briar[/name_f], [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], [name_u]Justice[/name_u], etc. So, my question is, do you ever get names in which you feel like yu could come off as “trying too hard,” when in reality you think they’re nice? If so, what names could be TTH?

(ps im not pregnant or a mom, just a girl that loves baby names and combinations)

This is what my husband says about [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] lol

I like [name_m]Pierce[/name_m], [name_m]Adler[/name_m], and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] from that list and i would classify any of them as trying too hard. [name_u]Paine[/name_u] is just nms

[name_u]Paine[/name_u] is not fair to give to a child.
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m] or [name_m]Piers[/name_m] are good, but [name_m]Peirce[/name_m] is misspelled.
I love [name_m]Adler[/name_m] and [name_m]Adlai[/name_m].
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] is OK.
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] I prefer to [name_f]Stella[/name_f].
[name_u]Justice[/name_u] is an awful name.

If I were a boy about to be named, of these I would want to be called [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] or [name_m]Adler[/name_m].

[name_u]Paine[/name_u] - not usable [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
[name_m]Peirce[/name_m] - I like this
[name_m]Adler[/name_m] - is usable
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] - is usable
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] - is usable
[name_u]Justice[/name_u] - no. its too much

[name_u]Paine[/name_u] - Not usable at all, it’s pronounced like “pain”, not even the most athletic and manly of boys would want that name
[name_m]Peirce[/name_m] - Not usable, it sounds too much like the ( also violent-ish ) verb
[name_m]Adler[/name_m] - Usable
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] - Usable
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] - Only if he had a good nickname to go by, or if it was a middle name
[name_u]Justice[/name_u] - sounds too feminine to me but usable

My sister dated a guy who’s last name was [name_m]Payne[/name_m], and literally he was a pain! Worst boyfriend of all time. So I’m a little biased to not like that name, that being said, it also doesn’t give off the most positive vibes in general.

The other names are ok, pierce reminds me of that [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Bond[/name_m] actor rather than “to pierce”

There’s an [name_m]Adler[/name_m] Planetarium in Chicago, which is kind of cool. [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] sounds cool as well. Sounds a bit British and Scandinavian at the same time.

[name_u]Paine[/name_u]: Would you want to be named [name_u]Paine[/name_u]?
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]: This is actually a legitimate name. If you’re worried about it looking too much like the verb “to pierce”, what about [name_m]Piers[/name_m]?
[name_m]Adler[/name_m]: Usable
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]: Usable, but sounds feminine imo
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]: Usable
[name_u]Justice[/name_u]: Usable

I agree with all the pps. I don’t think [name_u]Paine[/name_u] would be a good name at all. [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] is fine, just not my style. I love the rest of them tho!
[name_m]Adler[/name_m]- I really like the look and jauntiness although I would never use it.
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]- I absolutely love nature names. I think this name would work lovely on a boy, to me it doesn’t have a particularly feminine or masculine sound.
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]- What is it about this name that is so irresistible, I don’t even know!
[name_u]Justice[/name_u]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning of this word/name. I also like that it has a familiar feel, but is not a common name.
So I do not think those names are “trying too hard”. I can relate to the feeling tho! I think many of the names of my list, if I use them in real life, could possibly come across as trying too hard. Especially since alot of the people I associate with have common, popular or forsure well established names, and name their children likewise. My style is alot more uncommon, low usage. These are the ones I have tucked away on my “middle names only” list, that I even wonder if they’re borderline trying to hard-
Aslan- disney anyone??
[name_m]Bravery[/name_m]- such a good meaning. Too much for a name?
[name_u]Eagle[/name_u]/Otter- is there such a thing as too naturey
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]- former prime minister of [name_f]Canada[/name_f], also know a few girls with this name
[name_u]Leaf[/name_u]- insubstantial
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m]- is it just too romantic?

I wouldn’t recommend [name_u]Paine[/name_u] unless it’s a family name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] then, I would use it as a middle name only. [name_m]Pierce[/name_m], [name_m]Adler[/name_m], [name_f]Briar[/name_f], [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], and [name_u]Justice[/name_u] are all perfectly usable. I see no reason why [name_f]Briar[/name_f] should be exclusively feminine.

[name_u]Paine[/name_u] would be cruel. The rest are totally usable [name_f]IMO[/name_f] (unless you live in [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand where [name_u]Justice[/name_u] is banned. No [name_u]Justice[/name_u] in baby naming there :().
