[name]Kianna[/name] is a name it’s a variation of [name]Kiana[/name]. - I just looked up the actual saying of this is kee-AHN-ah - I now get the AHN. word.

I agree with [name]Ren[/name]'s pronunciations, though I’ve never heard the name [name]Thalia[/name] said out loud.
If you’re in the south of the UK, I’m surprised you don’t get [name]EVE[/name]-lyn for [name]Evelyn[/name]. I find that almost everyone down here says it that way! And I don’t see how that pronunciation should mean [name]Evelyn[/name] should be spelt differently. [name]EVE[/name]-lyn is the most logical pronunciation of [name]Evelyn[/name] to me. EV-lyn is a new one though. Is that a Welsh thing?
Breaking [name]ACACIA[/name] down for you: A = uh + [name]CA[/name] = kay + CI = see + A = uh. uh-[name]KAY[/name]-see-uh
[name]EVE[/name]-lin/EEV-lin is the same. I’ve never heard anyone in South [name]England[/name] pronounce it differently. And if you want to pronounce [name]Thalia[/name] [name]TAL[/name]-ee-uh you should spell it [name]Talia[/name]. Different names, you see.
Looks like both ‘kianna’ and ‘kiana’ are possibly altered spellings of the Italian name Ciana (chee-ahna) which can be a nickname for [name]Luciana[/name].
I know a girl named [name]Thalia[/name], and she calls herself Thaal-ee-a. Like [name]Al[/name]-ee-a, but with a TH sound in front.
For [name]Evelyn[/name], I know another girl and she goes by Ev-e-lyn.
But for the rest of your pronunciations, I think they’re right!
I never said I don’t get [name]Eve[/name]-lyn i said I don’t get EEV-lin. I’v only ever heard [name]Evelyn[/name] said as [name]Eve[/name]-[name]Lyn[/name] or Ev-[name]Lyn[/name]. I’v never heard EEV-lin. I don’t like the spelling [name]Talia[/name] which Is why the H is in there. I never said I was going to use [name]Tal[/name]-ee-uh I just said I like the way it sounds.
I do say it Ev-lyn because I’m welsh if I said Ev-e-lyn the e in my head sounds like a A. which then changes it to [name]Eva[/name]-[name]Lyn[/name].
Looking back at the name [name]Kiana[/name] it says its a variation of [name]Kian[/name] the boys name.
As someone who grew up learning Arabic, it drives me mad when people actually think “uh-lee-uh” is the correct pronunciation of [name]Aaliyah[/name].
It’s “Ahh-liyah”, emphasis on the Ahh, like you’re opening your mouth for a doctor, in the English-speaking accent. Really and truly, it’s a nasily “[name]Ah[/name]” in the proper Arabic pronunciation, but most Westerners can’t make that sound, let alone comfortably.
A simple way to explain is the name is the female form of the Arabic male name [name]Ali[/name] meaning “lofty, high”, so the first syllable sounds like [name]Ali[/name], followed by a “ah” sound.
Like [name]Natalia[/name] with out the [name]Nat[/name]-.
Thank you east93. I never though uh-lee-uh would even be considered as a pronunciation either. [name]Ah[/name]-Liyah/[name]Leah[/name] (the english version on Liyah) is how I would pronounce this also.
Oh yeah, I have two cousins named [name]Aliyah[/name], and have had a class mate, and have a student who say it “uh-lee-uh” or “ah-lee-uh” with emphasis on the second syllable, instead of the more rhythmic “ahh-liyah” where the emphasis is on the first syllable.
It’s a pretty sound, but it’s not the right sound.
It might not be as bad as i’m thinking of having it as a middle name due to having a [name]Amy[/name]-[name]Louise[/name] already i’m not a fan of 2 A names as first names
