I have children called [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Calla[/name]
but my fave names at the moment are [name]Alba[/name] and [name]Wren[/name].
Are they too close to [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Finn[/name]?
If you had to pick one with my kids’ names, what would you choose and why?

[name]Wren[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] sound similar but different enough to me. [name]Wren[/name] would be my pick from those two.

I think they sound OK. Not perfect, but not enough to stop you from using them. [name]Alba[/name] is gorgeous. I’m going to pick [name]Wren[/name] though because it’s the most distinct from the two.
I do think they are much too close, but I’m super-particular about sibsets. I guess I’d choose [name]Alba[/name] because it doesn’t actually rhyme. [name]Calla[/name] is a [name]LOVELY[/name] name.
With [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Calla[/name], and [name]Finn[/name], I like [name]Thea[/name], [name]Una[/name], [name]Inga[/name], [name]Etta[/name], [name]Romy[/name], [name]Lark[/name], [name]Law[/name], [name]Nash[/name], [name]Vail[/name], [name]Drake[/name]
You obviously like certain sounds:) I think both are close, but not too close. Neither of them are my style, but I like [name]Wren[/name] the most I guess:)
I also think that [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Alba[/name] are too similar. I vote for [name]Wren[/name]. I think [name]Wren[/name] is beautiful!

[name]Alba[/name] “all-ba” and [name]Calla[/name] sound completely different so I don’t see a problem
I would pick [name]Wren[/name] since it doesn’t also start with an A, like [name]Aidan[/name]. It is a bit like [name]Finn[/name] though, but it isn’t rhymey.
[name]Alba[/name] and [name]Calla[/name] are too close (unlike the poster above, I pronounce both with an “[name]Al[/name]” sound, like the beginning of [name]Alice[/name]), but I think [name]Wren[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] are fine.

To me, [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Alba[/name] practically rhyme, and [name]Wren[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] [name]DO[/name] rhyme. So, it’s a no go! [name]Way[/name] too close. [name]Imagine[/name] calling them out on the playground.
I like [name]Wren[/name] [name]Alba[/name], but I love [name]Alba[/name] [name]Wren[/name]. I can’t find a name I like as much, but not sure if the similarity to C will bug me after a while.

I’m still torturing myself other [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Fae[/name] & [name]Iris[/name] [name]Wren[/name] though, i think this girl won’t be named until she arrives! Hubby is now saying he likes [name]Ember[/name] which i expected him to hate, i won’t use it as too close to [name]Amber[/name] which i’m not fond of. Sorry gone bit OT!
I think [name]Iris[/name] [name]Wren[/name] is wonderful and works well with [name]Ivy[/name], but I would worry about repeating initials for the same gender as well. [name]Don[/name]'t think [name]Ember[/name] is up to your other choices and it is a bit close to [name]Amber[/name] for me as well. What about [name]Ever[/name]? Maybe too similar to [name]Ivy[/name]?
We’re ttc, had an early MC last month, so trying again. I don’t think [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Alba[/name] rhyme strictly, but they’re so similar. I’m desperate to use it somewhere as we’re expats from [name]Scotland[/name], but can’t find a first name I like as well as [name]Alba[/name]. [name]Wren[/name] is one syllable and I know I have problems with that with [name]Finn[/name]'s name, it just bugs me. So it’ll probably only be a middle name, but I know DP likes it, and he likes so few of my choices, that I’m considering it.

[name]How[/name] is [name]Calla[/name] pronounced? That will decide how [name]Alba[/name] is pronounced.
“All-ba” and “[name]Cal[/name]-ah” or “[name]Al[/name]-ba” and “Call-ah” do not rhyme and are perfectly fine together
[name]Wren[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] rhyme and there’s no way around it
I like the All-bah prn but I think everyone in our UK/US families will naturally say [name]Al[/name]-bah which is too close to how we say [name]Cal[/name]-ah.
