Are these too rhymey?

[name]Hi[/name], all! We’re expecting twins in [name]November[/name], so we obviously don’t know the sex yet. For a girl we have already decided on [name]Romilly[/name] Poppea [name]Loren[/name]. Is the name [name]Domini[/name] to rhymey with [name]Romilly[/name]? Also, any suggestions for sibling names for [name]Romilly[/name] would be much appreciated!

[name]Hi[/name]!

Yes, [name]Domini[/name] is definitely too “rhymey” with [name]Romilly[/name] Poppea [name]Loren[/name]. Sorry! You might like Piperel or [name]Lavender[/name] instead, though!

Are you planning to call [name]Romilly[/name] by a nickname, say [name]Romy[/name] or [name]Milly[/name]? If so, you might want a name for her twin that has nickname possibilities, like Piperel ([name]Piper[/name], [name]Elle[/name]).

As for Poppea, are you getting that from the opera (L’incoronazione di Poppea) or did you just like it? If you got it from the opera, there are plenty of other cool choices for another middle name. My favorites are Arnalta, [name]Ottavia[/name], [name]Seneca[/name], and [name]Drusilla[/name].

As for [name]Loren[/name], I’m not sure what to pair with that. I don’t know if you are big fans of [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Loren[/name] or if you just like the name. See, I always like to know how people think of their names…

Anyway, good luck to you!

Thanks, [name]Lemon[/name]! Yes, I love [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Loren[/name] and was definitely inspired by her. Poppea I came across in a book and fell in love automatically. I loved all of your suggestions.

You are welcome! I’m actually starting to think that [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Piper[/name] are a great set of twin (nick-) names! I might have to just think on that some more and take those…

[name]Lemon[/name]

YES! what if you use [name]Romilly[/name] for one and Popea for the other??

I guess it depends how they’re pronounced. Lookng at them I would assume it would be something like…
[name]Romilly[/name] - Roh-mi-ly (with either and oh sound like in [name]Rome[/name] or in [name]Ron[/name])
[name]Domini[/name] - [name]Dom[/name]-in-eye

In which case they wouldn’t be too rhymey for me but if it’s Roh-mi-ly and [name]Do[/name]-mi-ly then definately too rhymey

I assume [name]Domini[/name] is said dominee, like [name]Dominique[/name] with the last syllable cut off. If it weren’t, I don’t think the question of rhyme would have come up.

[name]Romilly[/name] and [name]Domini[/name] don’t really rhyme, sharing only the E sound at the end. It’s the -mi- in the middle that makes them sound really similar.

Thanks, ladies! As I suspected, [name]Domini[/name] (Dah-mah-nee) and [name]Romilly[/name] (Rah-mil-lee) are too rhymey. So boo to that. But your suggestions are very helpful!

[name]May[/name] I inquire where you’re from? I just want to know where has an accent that leads to that phonetic spelling.
