A naughty name?? I’d say no… In my 9 years of kindy teaching [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is NOT a name I associate as naughty. I have quite a BIG list of boys names that I deem as ‘trouble’. In all honesty though, I haven’t met enough [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]'s to judge. The few I have taught over the years though have been fun, bubbly and full of personality, but definitely “good”
My brother is a [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and his “bad” behaviour as a child was born out of frustration. He’s exceptionally clever and it wasn’t until the teachers realised this and put him into older, more demanding classes that his behaviour improved.
I think labelling a name a ‘naughty persons name’ is poor form from the teacher in question. She/He is making a judgement on a child before they’ve even met them - like teachers who make judgements on children who are younger siblings of children they’ve taught and had problems with in the past -and any teacher who makes that kind of judgement is a disgrace in my opinion.
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a lovely, strong name and if you wish to use it, then do!
Well of course not all [name_m]Daniels[/name_m] will be naughty. It’s just a stereotype. Although I do know one who’s about 17 or 18 years old who’s pretty bad… but it’s not like that means anything.
I couldn’t help but think of this thread this morning. I encountered a grown-up [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] at work, and he was the antithesis of naughty!
I’ve known several [name_m]Daniels[/name_m], and while they all had their ornery stages I wouldn’t say that [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a naughty name. Boys will be boys no matter what name they are given. A name can not make a child naughty. [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is one of those names that I don’t have a set “image” for because I’ve met so many and each was different, if anything [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a name that could fit pretty much any boy.
I have known four [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]'s so far in my life. Two I went to high school with, one was a trouble maker but ended up being responsible after we graduated, one was a popular guy who was pretty nice. The other two I have met in other circumstances. One is a guy I know who is not a good guy at all. The other [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] I met while teaching at a small school, and he is one of the most respectful boys I have ever met. So I do not necessarily think that [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a naughty boy name.
As the Director of a Preschool I can definitely see how certain children “ruin” names for you, but I think it’s silly to think they will all be that way. I haven’t had a [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] here at the school and I only knew one in school and he was sort of a joker, but a really nice guy; funny and jovial.
I know someone who has a son named [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and I’ve never met him but I love that her nickname for him is “Danielson.” Reminds me of the Karate kid.
- Yes, but in a practical joker sort of way, not a nasty way.
- No i wouldnt automatically think he is a naughty child.
- To me [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] sounds like a very sporty name.
I don’t think it is a fact that 'all [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]‘s are naughty’ rather than the majority of [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]'s the two teachers have come across tend to be misbehaved. I’m sure a lot of people have a name they are put off because all people they have met up to a certain point have been misbehaved, smart, sporty etc, but it doesn’t mean everyone they come in contact with the name will necessarily be like that. It’s like how one person can ruin a name for you from association but another person can also redeem that name, it’s just that the two teachers you have mentioned either have yet to come across a well behaved [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] in their class or have met so many misbehaved boys bu the name that they group all [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]'s in that group.
Absolutely not. Two of the men I respect the most are named [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are very wise. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are very mature, know their convictions, and are very compassionate. One of them is brilliant. I think the other is smart too, but he’s not in medical school.
One of them is humble and gentle in spirit and the other is a born leader with the remarkable ability to love people who are hard to love. Go for it.

I think of a (based on my brother) handsome, funny, clever, sweet guy.
I think you should definitely go for [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]!!
I have been a teacher for about 7 years and have taught several [name_m]Daniels[/name_m], none of whom were naughty that I remember. I have never heard that they typically are. Now I will be on the look out.
is a great name!
Been teaching for a quarter of a century!
