[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name] are too similar?
We have two boys, [name]William[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Oliver[/name], and are expecting our third. We’re really liking [name]Lucas[/name] right now, but we don’t like the fact that it shares an ending with [name]Thomas[/name]. We are willing to overlook it, though, as our boys go by [name]Wills[/name] and [name]Tommy[/name], and [name]Lucas[/name] would go by [name]Luke[/name]. What do you think? We know it’s not ideal, but is it a dealbreaker? If so, what names would you pair with [name]William[/name] and [name]Thomas[/name]?

If your son [name]Thomas[/name] is called [name]Tommy[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name] would be called [name]Luke[/name], then I don’t think it would be such a problem if the names share a “similar” ending. Good luck!
I don’t think it would be a deal breaker. Plus, I think I even say them more like “[name]Tom[/name]-ass” and “[name]Luke[/name]-us” so the endings are slightly different for me.
I just had to say that we have two boys too, and are expecting our third in [name]July[/name]!!! Our boys just happen to be names [name]Lukas[/name] and [name]William[/name], so I obviously love those names!!! I struggle too, with this “dilemma” as our favorite name for this one is [name]Nikolas[/name], but I do struggle with the “las” ending being just like [name]Lukas[/name]. I’m on the fence as to whether it’s a deal-breaker or not… [name]Do[/name] you have other favorites? I really like [name]Dominik[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Matthias[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name]. I don’t think they are too similar. I love both names - if my daughter had been a boy, she would have been either [name]Thomas[/name] or [name]Luca[/name], and they are still our top 2 boys name if we ever have a boy. I would totally use them with brothers, especially because of the nicknames being so disimilar.
Like you said I don’t think it’s ideal, but you love the name, and it’s certainly not a deal breaker. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Lucian[/name]? The nickname would still be [name]Luke[/name].
My friend has twin boys named [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name], and I think its adorable! They do have similar endings, but they have so many different nicknames that you barely ever actually say ‘thomas and lucas’, unless youre scolding them or something. It’s usually ‘[name]Tommy[/name] and [name]Luke[/name]’.
