DH and I want to give our son a family name: [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]. It’s DH’s grandfather’s name and DH’s middle name. However, is it too old fashioned? I used to dislike the name as well, but loved the sentiment and it eventually grew on me. We plan to shorten in to [name_u]Ren[/name_u] as a nickname, to spice it up a bit. We’re not a fan of the [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] spelling…
Great idea! [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] is lovely - traditional but not outdated. I like [name_u]Ren[/name_u] as a nickname too - never heard that before but it works.
I know a 15 year old boy named [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] and he wears the name really well! I think [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is a good way to modernize the name.
I don’t see how a child named [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] will be “doomed”.
There were something like 628 boys named [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] in 2014 and 59 [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]'s. [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is a cute nickname.
I would definitely use it. [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] is an older name but it doesn’t fit onto one of the old “was trendy” lists, but is a solid, masculine name. [name_u]Laurence[/name_u], nickname [name_u]Ren[/name_u], is great and is meaningful to you. I love [name_u]Ren[/name_u]!
Not at all. I think it’s a great name, especially if you’ve got a nn you like and will use a lot.
[name_u]Ren[/name_u] is super fun, I also like [name_m]Lance[/name_m] as a nn for [name_u]Laurence[/name_u].
I actually really like [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]. I think it’s classic and sophisticated, while not being boring. [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is a really cool nickname as well.
Adding the meaning it has for you to that, I think you should go for it!
Definitely use!
I know a very lovely guy named [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] and he suits the name perfectly, spelt that way too which I also prefer.
[name_u]Ren[/name_u] is adorable and will now be joining my list!!
