Ari as a nickname for Victoria?

I know it’s a stretch, but I do not like [name]Vicky[/name] at all, [name]Vic[/name] is too masculine, and [name]Tori[/name] is too 90/20s cheerleader to me.
[name]Ria[/name] is an option, but I’m not that fond of it, so I though perhaps reorder the letters and use [name]Ari[/name].
I think the “ori” part of the name is close enough for [name]Ari[/name] to be used.

Thoughts?

I know a young [name]Tora[/name], which is fresh, as long as you don’t mishear “Torah”.

[name]Via[/name]? [name]Ari[/name] feels like a stretch to me, but if you love it, make it work!

I love the suggestion of [name]Via[/name] (although if you’re keeping [name]Gia[/name] on your shortlist, [name]Via[/name] might be a bit much–besides, it could also be a nn for [name]Olivia[/name]!)! I think [name]Cora[/name] is even more intuitive than [name]Ari[/name] (although I do love my sweet [name]Ari[/name]!).

I agree that [name]Ari[/name] is a bit of a stretch–it’s not obvious and is in no way a diminutive form of [name]Victoria[/name]–but I love the above suggestions of [name]Tora[/name] and [name]Via[/name]. There’s also [name]Vivi[/name]. That’s more of a nickname for [name]Viviana[/name] though. Have you considered names that would naturally provide [name]Ari[/name] as a nickname? No suggestions come to mind, but you could easily find some using the advanced search function on here.

Definitely have, but it’s more looking for a nickname for [name]Victoria[/name], rather than a full name for [name]Ari[/name].

I appreciate the suggestions of [name]Tora[/name] and [name]Via[/name], but I still prefer [name]Ari[/name] over them. Thank you for all the suggestions and input!
I look at it like [name]Lola[/name] being a nickname for [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Ari[/name] works great for me, even if most think it’s too much of a stretch. I’ve seen several nicknames that are pushing it more than [name]Ari[/name] for [name]Victoria[/name], so I think it’s going to stick.

[name]Ari[/name] is a big big stretch, but don’t let that stop you! It will certainly elicit a “huh?” when people ask what it’s short for.

[name]Love[/name] the suggestion of [name]Via[/name]. [name]Ori[/name] is a possibility, though my brain can’t help but complete that to Oreo (could be I’m just hungry).
[name]Oria[/name] is a place name ([name]Italy[/name]). You could choose a middle to give a collaborative first + middle nickname. Or you can just plain insist that she be [name]Victoria[/name] and nothing else!

Are you stuck with [name]Victoria[/name]? Often issues like this will rule out a name for me.

Oh no, I’m not stuck with it. I love the name, but not the nicknames. I do love nicknames in general though, so I like having at least one idea in mind when I have a name love, so that way I know I have something to fall back on. I’ve also heard the idea of presenting a nickname that you like asap, instead of risking others jumping to the one you dislike, like [name]Vicky[/name] in my case. :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought of [name]Ori[/name], but I don’t like it for a few reasons, which is how [name]Ari[/name] came to mind. :stuck_out_tongue:

[name]Ari[/name] is a bit of a stretch, i prefer [name]Via[/name], Vee and [name]Ria[/name]

I love [name]Victoria[/name] nn [name]Ari[/name]! It is a bit of a stretch, but it makes worlds more sense if you go on to explain that it grew out of [name]Ori[/name].
