Aria or Vera?

I know these give off different feelings (at least to me) but both are beautiful. Which would you prefer for a baby girl?

I am leaning toward [name_f]Vera[/name_f] but she would have a cousin [name_f]Vada[/name_f]… I think they sound different enough (and would be 7 years different in age) but not sure.

I prefer [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. I think it ages better, and [name_f]Aria[/name_f], while pretty, is a bit too trendy for my taste.

Anyone else?

I dont care for [name_f]Vera[/name_f], sorry. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is pretty but, too trendy and popular where i live in Ca.

I prefer [name_f]Vera[/name_f].

I much prefer [name_f]Aria[/name_f]! Yes, it is probably seen as ‘trendy’, but it’s beautiful. To me, [name_f]Vera[/name_f] sounds like an old lady name.

[name_f]Vera[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s too similar to [name_f]Vada[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is just going to get more popular…

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though I really like the sound of [name_f]Aria[/name_f], I’m having a hard time with the trendiness factor.

I can’t stand [name_f]Vera[/name_f] - it is so old lady and not in a chic way. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] for me.

Another vote for [name_f]Vera[/name_f]!

[name_f]Vera[/name_f]! Such a gorgeous name. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] isn’t terrible but I feel that it, along with the [name_u]Arya[/name_u] spelling, are super trendy.

I love [name_f]Vera[/name_f]! [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is pretty but as has been mentioned, there are many little Arias around these days.

We’re not using [name_f]Aria[/name_f]/[name_u]Arya[/name_u] only because of the trendiness factor. I love [name_f]Vera[/name_f].

Thanks all! Your responses are making me feel good about my instinct to go with [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. It is one name my husband hasn’t said flat out “no” to though he said it sounds like a b!tchy old lady lol. He likes [name_f]Aria[/name_f] more and my mom likes [name_f]Aria[/name_f] too (she has "yuck"ed [name_f]Vera[/name_f] in the past when I mentioned it during last pregnancy so not even telling her it’s on the table this time). I think [name_f]Vera[/name_f] is sweet but strong and will age well.

I much prefer Aria! It’s become too popular for my taste, but if you don’t care about that, then it’s a beautiful, melodious name.

EDIT: Vera is a beautiful name! Good luck.

Both are beautiful names, but [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is definitely more trendy than [name_f]Vera[/name_f].
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] is one of my favorite names ever. It’s simple, classic, elegant, timeless, strong, feminine and bold. Everything at least I would want in a name. It’s easily pronounceable in several different languages, it’s literary, artsy, uncommon but not unfamiliar and it has a lovely, pure meaning, [name_u]True[/name_u]/[name_u]Truth[/name_u].

I’m very fond of opera, thanks to my nanna who was a music teacher and daughter of Italian immigrants and would only ever use [name_f]Aria[/name_f] if I really loved opera that much, but didn’t want to associate my child to any specific opera (Eg: [name_m]Barber[/name_m] of [name_f]Seville[/name_f], [name_f]Rosina[/name_f]; [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] from [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]; [name_f]Violetta[/name_f] from La Traviata et al), artist/composer (Eg: [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_f]Renata[/name_f], [name_u]Joan[/name_u], [name_f]Montserrat[/name_f], [name_f]Edita[/name_f], [name_f]Angela[/name_f], [name_m]Giuseppe[/name_m], [name_m]Giacomo[/name_m], [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]…)

I prefer [name_f]Aria[/name_f]! Such a beautiful name!

I prefer [name_f]Vera[/name_f].

Thanks for the feedback!

[name_f]Aria[/name_f] is beautiful and has one of the best meanings!

[name_f]Vera[/name_f] makes me think of veering off the road while driving.
