Which name do you prefer, [name]Aria[/name] or [name]Elena[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you get very different feels from each name, or are they close in your mind? Does one have more substance than the other? Is one more trendy, and the other more timeless? [name]One[/name] you see on a CEO and one on a Contemporary [name]Dancer[/name], or other career path?
Favourite name (or sibset) combos with [name]Aria[/name] and [name]Elena[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you say [name]Elena[/name] “eh-leh-na” or “ah-lay-na”
Any other commentary on which name you prefer, or both names in general would be great. Thank you!
I like both names, but only if [name]Elena[/name] is pronounced a-[name]LAY[/name]-nuh. If you’re going for ellen-uh, I much prefer [name]Helena[/name]. [name]Aria[/name] seems like a dancer to me. [name]Elena[/name] I don’t get a specific vibe from, but I think it’s cute. Kind of bookish and quiet. I think [name]Aria[/name] looks better typed out than [name]Elena[/name]. [name]Elena[/name] confuses me a little. I would ask how to pronounce it before I tried, but [name]Aria[/name] is very concise and cute and modern to me.
I get a totally different feel from each name. [name]Aria[/name] feels like an exotic song you don’t know the words to. [name]Elena[/name] (Eh-LEH-nah- this would be the correct pronunciation in Spanish) feels beautiful and soft like a whisper. [name]Elena[/name] is more timeless [name]IMO[/name] but [name]Aria[/name] doesn’t feel trendy in a bad way.
I would use [name]Elena[/name] over [name]Aria[/name].
[name]Aria[/name] feels very trendy to me I know it’s got a history and I [name]LOVE[/name] it’s meaning ‘lioness’ but it does feel like a modern trendy name as it seems to have soared in popularity here in Australia in recent years before which it was more or less unheard of! I think [name]Aria[/name] has more potential to a be a name that has more potential to sound dated than [name]Elena[/name] which is more timeless! I really like [name]Elena[/name]…it’s a bit soft and sweet for my taste…if you want something spunky I’d go for [name]Aria[/name]. That said nn [name]Leni[/name] could definately spice [name]Elena[/name] up a bit and would be a way to steer clear of common [name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name] nn’s! I do think its [name]Elena[/name] is beautiful… Think I rather [name]Helena[/name] though!
I say el-[name]LAY[/name]-nuh. I do find [name]Elena[/name] more timeless than [name]Aria[/name], but I think I prefer the sound of [name]Aria[/name]. [name]Aria[/name] gives me a more hippy-chic vibe, while [name]Elena[/name] feels more like a former wild-child turned business women, if that makes sense. That said, I think they’re both versatile names and would make fine sisters.
eh-lay-na is beautiful and more timeless. [name]Aria[/name] is also beautiful but feels trendier. I put [name]Elena[/name] with other slightly exotic yet accessible names like [name]Nadia[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name]. [name]Aria[/name] feels more like [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Mila[/name]… cute, rising in popularity and likely to be associated with this decade.
[name]Both[/name] names I associate with TV show characters.
[name]Elena[/name] (I pronounce it uh-[name]LAY[/name]-nuh) I associate with the main character in Vampire Diaries (before this past season). [name]Elena[/name] seems more like an All American girl. Kind of the girl next door. I’ve met two other [name]Elena[/name]'s who were this type of person. Sweet, pretty, caring.
[name]Aria[/name] I associate with Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars. She has that edgy, hippy ish feel. [name]Aria[/name] is more daring.
That being said, I could imagine both women being CEO or a dancer. [name]Aria[/name] would be a CEO of some kind of alternative company, whereas [name]Elena[/name] would be a CEO of some more traditional company. [name]Elena[/name] would be a ballerina, whereas [name]Aria[/name] would be into alternarice, hybrid dance styles.
Which name do you prefer, [name]Aria[/name] or [name]Elena[/name]?
I prefer [name]Aria[/name].
[name]Do[/name] you get very different feels from each name, or are they close in your mind?
Yes, I do get very different feels from each name.
I agreed with the rest that [name]Elena[/name] is more timeless while [name]Aria[/name] is more modern, hippish. [name]Elena[/name] gives me the image of a brainy and goody girl while [name]Aria[/name] is a girl who loves art and music.
I really prefer [name]Elena[/name] - the eh-lay-na pronunciation - I associate it with my cousin by the same name, she’s very beautiful (tall, thin, dark skin and eyes) and very, very intelligent and hard working, so it’s a very good association.
[name]Aria[/name] definitely gives off a trendy vibe, but it’s still a pretty name with a nice history / meaning.
I just feel like [name]Elena[/name] has more substance to me.
I love [name]Elena[/name]. Most people I know with this name are European and they pronounce it [name]El[/name]-[name]Len[/name]-[name]Ah[/name]. I think it is beautiful and, unlike [name]Aria[/name], it is not too trendy. My only pause would be the confusion over pronunciation. No matter which one you choose, someone is going to pronounce it differently!
I love both names, but slightly prefer [name]Aria[/name]/[name]Arya[/name].
[name]Elena[/name]: Whichever way you choose to pronounce it, I think it is lovely. I like a lot of similar names such as [name]Alaina[/name], [name]Helena[/name], [name]Helen[/name], [name]Elaine[/name] and etc. All those names feel timeless to me ([name]Helen[/name] not quite as much). I do associate it with the character from The Vampire Diaries because that is my only association with the name. I am a fan of the show, so to me it is not a bad association.
[name]Aria[/name]/[name]Arya[/name]: I have been a fan of [name]George[/name] R.R. [name]Martin[/name]'s A Song of Ice and [name]Fire[/name] for years, and I love Game of Thrones. I have had [name]Arya[/name] on my own list ever since I first read the books when I was in college. The name has a strong association for me with the character, but to me it is a great association because I love the character. I am a little hesitant to actually use the name on any possible future daughters until the actual series of books is complete. You never really know where the author is gonna take his characters and what he is going to do with them. I would like to see the end of the series before actually using the name, which probably won’t happen in time. I did at one point take [name]Arya[/name] off my list because [name]Aria[/name] was becoming a little trendy. I love the name enough to consider using it anyways though. I just have my fingers crossed that it never hits the top 20 and that it never really becomes popular enough to be considered dated one day.
