Ariadne and Phaedra

I really like [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] as hypothetical sister names, but in Greek mythology, the two were actually sisters. Is this a connection people would actually make, and if so, does it seem cheesy or contrived for real life sisters? Would it be a deal breaker?

I honestly don’t think many people will make the connection. Some will easily recognize the shared origin of the names, but I doubt they’ll consider anything else. They make a great pair!

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] sound stunning together. Only Greek myth enthusiasts will know that [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] were actually sisters, and even then, they likely won’t immediately realise it. I certainly didn’t. So I think you’re safe.

I think you wouldn’t run into many people who would make that connection (unless most of your close circle is made up of avid greek mythology fanatics), and even in that case, I think it’s kind of a sweet connection point. Plus, as many have said, the names sound lovely together, so I see no big problems

Forget my original answer. Iam Greek and I didnt even know that [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] and [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] were sisters ” I think you are safe.

I think it’s fine

It would be weird if they were lovers or one killed the other in mythology but since they’re just sisters, it might actually be a cute connection

I doubt anyone would make the connection. Not unless they’re extremely knowledgeable about Greek mythology. Both [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] are names that have associations outside of Greek mythology ([name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] is also a [name_m]Christian[/name_m] saint’s name, and there’s a TV personality called [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_m]Parks[/name_m], for example) so I don’t think it’s a big deal.

I’m Greek and I was pretty into Greek mythology when I was younger too, and I had no idea!

I don’t think it’s a problem. First off they’re fantastic names that are truly amazing together; it’d be a shame not to use them. Also it’s unlikely most people would see the connection anyways. I have both on my list, and I’m interested in Greek mythology and didn’t see the link.
