Aries Valentine

We think we found the name for a boy…

I always loved [name]Aries[/name], but the slightly aggressive meaning made it too tricky for me to see for a son.
My partner suggested a middle name to counteract the ‘[name]Ram[/name]’ meaning.

So [name]Aries[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] seems to be perfect, in my book.
I love the sound, and I love that [name]Arie[/name]-val comes from the first and middle names (‘Arrival’)

Its unusual, but easy to pronounce and short; which I feel makes its unusualness easier to carry.

We thought ‘[name]Rive[/name]’ would be a good nickname- taken from the first and middle names.

(We came to [name]Aries[/name] through our love for [name]Mars[/name], which of course we can’t use now we have a [name]Martha[/name]; but I considered when pregnant with her. From [name]Mars[/name], to Ares, to [name]Aries[/name]!)

What do you think?
Siblings are [name]Louis[/name], [name]Hector[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name]/[name]Lottie[/name] and [name]Martha[/name].

It’s nice, but a bit girly and comic bookish imo. I know, it’s weird considering [name]Aries[/name] isn’t girly. But the name always sounded girly to me. (I’m an [name]Aries[/name], btw and my mother’s born on [name]Valentine[/name]'s day. :D)

I still like the name though, I do think it’s incredibly mismatched with his siblings however.

I like the nickname of [name]Rive[/name].

Okay, I was sure this post would be about a girl’s name. I’m sorry, for some reason [name]Aries[/name] sounds rather unisex to me and [name]Valentine[/name] all feminine. [name]Valentin[/name] on the other hand all male. I wouldn’t even question [name]Aries[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] was a girl…

It sounds really feminine to me, sorry. Especially with your other boys having traditional and masculine names.

I agree with this

I don’t mind aries, but I highly dislike it with valentine. I agree with the above posters, it sounds comic bookish and somewhat girly together

[name]Aries[/name] sounds feminine? Good grief, can boys keep any names?

Prefer Ares. I don’t think it quite fits with your other kids, though. Not a fan of [name]Valentine[/name], and agree that the combo sounds fictional

I really like the suggestion of [name]Aries[/name] [name]Valentin[/name] as an alternative. [name]Valentine[/name] does seem too feminine to me, and I’m neutral on the gender-association of [name]Aries[/name]. I’m actually really digging [name]Aries[/name] [name]Valentin[/name], but I would personally call him [name]Aries[/name] instead of using a nn.

I agree with others that it seems a bit mismatched with the rest of your sibset… but it obviously has tremendous meaning for the two of you, and that is what’s ultimately important! Best of luck!

I really like [name]Aries[/name] for a male name. However, I’m not into [name]Valentine[/name]. They’re just too much together.

seems very mismatched with your other childrens names

I agree, it sounds like a girls name. I would not give a boy the name [name]Valentine[/name]. [name]Aries[/name] is fine though, and I could see it working nicely on a boy with a different middle name.

[name]Aries[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] is awesome

What about [name]Argus[/name], Archard, [name]Archer[/name], [name]Archibald[/name], [name]Aristotle[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Arlen[/name], [name]Armand[/name], [name]Arnold[/name], or [name]Arnett[/name] [name]Valentin[/name] with a nn of [name]Ari[/name] (R-ee)? [name]One[/name] of these seems to fit better with [name]Louis[/name], [name]Hector[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name]/[name]Lottie[/name], and [name]Martha[/name].

what about [name]Valentino[/name]? I think [name]Aries[/name] is a nice name btw!

My first thought about [name]Aries[/name] is that it should be [name]Ari[/name] but then that is a well known Jewish name that doesn’t really fit with your other childdren’s names.

[name]Louis[/name], [name]Hector[/name], [name]Martha[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] and

all the names I can think of start with H or L
eg
[name]Hugo[/name],
[name]Lionel[/name]
[name]Lawrence[/name] but you may like
[name]Edward[/name] nn [name]Ned[/name]
[name]Crispin[/name]
[name]Tristan[/name]
[name]Tarquin[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Ralph[/name] nn Rayfe
[name]Gregor[/name]
[name]Alisdair[/name]
[name]Albert[/name]
[name]Charles[/name]
[name]Rupert[/name] (this is one of my favourite names) [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Roland[/name] nn [name]Rollo[/name]
[name]Dudley[/name]
[name]Neville[/name]

Good luck

rollo

I think it sounds very odd in your sibset, to be honest.

And I don’t think [name]Aries[/name] itself sounds like a girl name, but it is a rather feminine, soft boy name. [name]Valentine[/name] just emphasises that.

[name]Aries[/name] is completely out of place with siblings named [name]Louis[/name], [name]Hector[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name], and [name]Martha[/name]. [name]Valentin[/name] would actually be a better fit in your family.

Thanks for the help… crushing but necessary advice. Clearly this combination isn’t realistic

I am just really stuck on boys’ names, if I’m honest. I have an ever-growing list, but no names I truly love (except [name]Leo[/name] which is off the cards for definite)

I actually really like [name]Aries[/name]

I prefer [name]Aries[/name] [name]Valen[/name] to [name]Valentine[/name], but as a combo [name]Aries[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] doesn’t bother me. [name]How[/name] often do you use your middle name anyway? It’s unique and I like it.

I agree however, that it doesn’t go with your other siblings. If I knew a [name]Louis[/name], [name]Martha[/name] and [name]Hector[/name] and they said their brother’s name was [name]Aries[/name] I’d laugh and think, “wow, who came up with that?”. Completely different style.
