I’m really starting to like this name for a girl, is it too masculine?
That’s not exactly my reasoning, but yes.
[name]Arlo[/name] is on both my boy and girl list. However I like it because it sounds hard or “masculine”. If you want a “feminine” sounding name then yes it’s too masculine
[name]Arlo[/name] is all boy imo.
Yep, too masculine.
Too masculine for a girl in my opinion. What about [name]Aria[/name]?
The “o” ending makes it a bit masculine to me. But in the end it doesn’t matter if you like it.
It’s too masculine. I see it as a boys name
Me too, boys name. [name]Love[/name] it on a boy though.
It was on my list for both boy and girl at one point. For a boy, [name]Arlo[/name] and for a girl, Arlowe.
[name]Johnny[/name] Knoxville from Jackass named his daughter this, which I initially thought was really strange. Eventually I figured out that it probably had something to do with [name]Harlow[/name] being somewhat familiar as a girls’ name now. I don’t really mind [name]Harlow[/name] or [name]Arrow[/name] on a girl, but I much prefer [name]Arlo[/name] on a boy for some reason.
I don’t like it on a girl, honestly. But I don’t understand why names like [name]Harlow[/name] and [name]Marlowe[/name] are being embraced for the girls, but [name]Arlo[/name] isn’t. Based on pure sound, they are all identical except for the initial consonant (or lack thereof.) If someone says [name]Arlo[/name] is too masculine because it’s traditionally a boys name - that’s fine. But don’t say it “sounds” too masculine if you are pro [name]Harlow[/name]/[name]Marlowe[/name], because that makes no sense. Personally, I don’t care for any of them on a girl.
The first place I ever heard [name]Arlo[/name] (that I can remember) is on the show Justified with [name]Timothy[/name] Olyphant. [name]Arlo[/name] is his crusty, washed-up dad. I know it’s not the name’s fault… but I really can’t see it on a girl. It feels akin to naming a girl [name]Jed[/name] to me.
