  • Beatrix: 15 (15%)

First off, all your choices are wonderful and I don’t believe you can go wrong with any of them.

Now for some dissection…
My favourite name from your list is [name]Juniper[/name]. I love the sound of [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name] also.
[name]Beatrix[/name] is lovely, and it does work with [name]Arlo[/name] however, I think [name]Arlo[/name] sounds a little bit nicknamey compared to the rather regal [name]Beatrix[/name]. [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Bea[/name] is perfect.
I don’t mind [name]Maxine[/name] now that I give it some thought, I don’t like [name]Max[/name] either however. [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Maxine[/name] is nice, and I think if this is the name that you have a connection with (forgetting [name]Frances[/name] for a minute), then you should go with it. I’m sure you can work around the [name]Max[/name] issue.
[name]Hazel[/name], I love. A lot a lot a lot, more than I realise. [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name] is gorgeous.
[name]Roxana[/name], an old favourite of mine which is now unfortunately dated in the 80’s rather heavily for me, it’s still lovely however and [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Roxana[/name] is nice, but I do get the feel that [name]Roxana[/name] is a bit more stately.
[name]Francine[/name], I’m not a big fan, but it’s growing on me (my 9 year old sister is OBSESSED with the name [name]Francine[/name] and she wishes this was her name…at the moment at least) [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Francine[/name] is nice.
[name]Lucinda[/name] is lovely, especially with the nickname [name]Lucy[/name]. [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Lucinda[/name] is adorable! As is [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name].

I have not voted as I am too conflicted to make a decision, which is silly as it’s not my child, but anyway, I hope I’ve been of assistance, and good luck!

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] with [name]Arlo[/name]. That perfect blend of classic and quirky.

Husband input can be quite frustrating, but you’ll get there. I’d be wary of [name]Francine[/name] if [name]Frances[/name] is your lost name love, I think for me it would always remind me of the compromise that I had to get over. I think [name]Juniper[/name] is my runner up, also delightful and perfect with [name]Arlo[/name].

( Completely off-topic, your username always makes me smile, even though I have to say I preferred [name]Stacey[/name]. )

1 [name]Juniper[/name]
2 [name]Lucinda[/name]
3 [name]Hazel[/name]

[name]Roxana[/name]! [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Roxie[/name] are cute together! Second favourite would be [name]Maxine[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name].

[name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] get my vote! Can I just say that I love that you used [name]Arlo[/name]? I have always loved the name and resorted to using it for my black lab knowing I’d never get the approval from my man to use it on a baby haha. [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name] are perfect together!

  1. [name]Arlo[/name] & [name]Juniper[/name] (sounds full of energy)
  2. [name]Arlo[/name] & [name]Beatrix[/name] ([name]Bea[/name] is such a lovely nn and the x makes it cool enough to go with [name]Arlo[/name])

I do like some of the other names its just that they don’t flow as well with [name]Arlo[/name].

If you originally wanted [name]Frances[/name], it would seem to make sense to me to choose [name]Francine[/name], since they are quite similar. Your daughter would definitely be the only [name]Francine[/name] in her class! It may seem a bit dated though. What about [name]Franka[/name] or [name]Franca[/name]? That sounds fresher to me.

However, I voted for [name]Beatrix[/name] -I love the meaning and the potential nicknames -[name]Bee[/name]/[name]Bea[/name] & [name]Trixie[/name]. So cute! [name]Arlo[/name] & [name]Beatrix[/name] go nicely together I think. I also like [name]Lucinda[/name] & [name]Hazel[/name] from your list.

I voted for [name]Roxana[/name]/[name]Roxie[/name]. It feels most off-the-beaten-track of your choices to me, and think it sounds good in either form with [name]Arlo[/name]. I like it that it’s NOT another two-syllable name, or at least there’s an option for it not to be. [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Juniper[/name], and [name]Beatrix[/name] to me are a tad too trendy. I’m not a fan of the ines. I agree that [name]Francine[/name] could feel too much like second choice compared with [name]Frances[/name] (love that name too). [name]Love[/name] [name]Bea[/name] but [name]Beatrix[/name] a bit too de la mode for me. [name]Love[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] too but just think [name]Roxana[/name] a slightly better match for [name]Arlo[/name].

[name]Francine[/name] is my favorite name. It is a very meaningful name in our family as well. We give our children at least 3 names (sometimes 4) on the birth certificate. It is a tradition on my father’s side and my hubby is onboard with it. Each of my girls will have the name [name]Francine[/name] someplace in their name lineage. I vote for [name]Francine[/name]!

I am actually considering legally changing my name from Frances to Francine. Take if from someone who has lived with the name Frances. Francine is so much prettier, and it is one of my very favorite names! I hope you choose it!

Thank you so much to everyone for all the awesome responses. You guys have been hugely helpful. It’s especially nice to get a response from [name]Pam[/name] – thanks [name]Pam[/name]!! And ottilie too – I appreciate the love for [name]Roxana[/name], which is underused, beautiful and special to both of us. My qualm about it was that someone told me [name]Roxie[/name]/[name]Roxy[/name] was a super popular dog name – and I looked it up and it’s true, weirdly. So I’m worried about my little girl running into loads of dogs with her name? Maybe that’s a nonissue. I know lots of dog Stellas and it’s still a lovely name for a human
@frankie97, thank you for the feedback on [name]Frances[/name]! I appreciate hearing the experience of someone who actually has the name! And I’m glad to hear that you like [name]Francine[/name] as well. I see how it may seem dated to some but that doesn’t bother me in the slightest. It’s a lovely name and if you love it you should go for it too!
Everyone has made me feel so much better about our choices that we may go to the hospital with a couple names in mind. (I still think the top three in my poll are our top three at this point.) [name]Even[/name] though there’s not too much love for [name]Maxine[/name] I may use it. If I imagine my daughter looking anything like my son I feel like [name]Maxine[/name] and [name]Roxie[/name] are really solid fits, if that makes sense.
@lineska, I loved [name]Stacey[/name] too!!! But I was a [name]Claudia[/name] fan all the way, obviously :slight_smile:

I voted [name]Francine[/name], although personally I like [name]Francesca[/name] better. I think I mainly like them b/c it would be an opportunity to use the nn [name]Frankie[/name], which I love.

I also like [name]Maxine[/name] (love [name]Max[/name])

I’ve always loved the name [name]Francine[/name], so I hope you go with it. Having a more plain name ([name]Fay[/name]) and my best friend in High School was named [name]Francine[/name], I was always jealous of her name.

My favorites would definitely be [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Roxana[/name] ([name]Roxie[/name]), [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Roxie[/name] is adorable. I think [name]Arlo[/name] sounds quite nickname like to me and so I think it would sound better with a nickname name. Does that make sense? I also love [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Lucinda[/name] with the nickname [name]Lucy[/name]. Cute!

[name]Hazel[/name] got my vote because I love it with [name]Arlo[/name], but [name]Roxana[/name] and [name]Lucinda[/name] are both gorgeous as well!

I voted for [name]Lucinda[/name] because of its femininity, fluidity and for how it sits with brother [name]Arlo[/name].

[name]Lucinda[/name] is a great name it has quirkiness like [name]Arlo[/name], it has the great nn of [name]Lucy[/name] or if you prefer Cinders or [name]Indy[/name] and it is different without being [name]OTT[/name].

Good luck,

rollo
