Arrow for a girl?

I’m really loving [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] as a girl’s name. Is it too weird to even be a name (I don’t think so)? Can a girl pull it off? I wanted to get some opinions (I’m not expecting btw)

I definitely think that a girl can pull off the name [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]. It’s a lovely name for a girl

Thx @lizibet2 I think so too! I just wasn’t sure how others would see it

I think it could work, but only paired with a distinctly feminine and fairly normal/classic middle name. ie, [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].

I really like it on both genders. I remember that a user here has a dd named [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] [name_f]Milena[/name_f] which i think is lovely.

I know a little girl whose name is Ero (pronounced [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]) and she pulls it off really well. Granted, she’s only about 1 right now

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] arrow but can’t get dh on board. I once saw [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] nn [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] and thought that was the coolest nickname ever.
Definitely usable.
I like [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
Something classic and sort of plain in the middle:)

I think it’s better as a nickname. [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] [name_m]Sutcliffe[/name_m] is a character in Somerset Maugham’s short story The Three Fat Women of Antibes: “Mrs. [name_m]Sutcliffe[/name_m] had the odd first name of [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]. When she was young and slender she had liked it well enough… She liked it less now that her delicate features had grown muzzy with fat, that her arms and shoulders were so substantial and her hips so massive.”
It could work, but only on a certain type of person. Anyway, I like the suggestion of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] as the full name: [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] → [name_u]Caro[/name_u] → [name_m]Arrow[/name_m].

I really dislike the name arrow… On a boy so I think its even worse for a girl, because an arrow is used as a weapon therefore its not a very nice name. But that’s just my opinion I really don’t mean to be offensive, if you like it go for it because its your choice no one else’s. I think a girl could pull off the name arrow if she was a real tomboy but if she was girly, arrow wouldnt suit her, so I think you should be careful with this name. Maybe as a middle name, as middles are only rarely used so if shes a girly girl with the name [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] arrow for example. Then it wont matter about her name suiting her because it would be a middle. If that makes sense xx GL:)

@katiem333 are you talking about Ero [name_u]Roy[/name_u], from mommy squared? Bc if u are, isn’t she the cutest thing ever!?

[name_m]Arrow[/name_m] is a cool word. It’s different, but not in a negative way, though I suppose from an ultra-PC point of view it could sound violent.

That being said, I wouldn’t want to be named this if I were a boy and certainly not if I were a girl.

If I wanted this as a nn, I would name her [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] or [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] etc. and call her [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]. That way if she embraced [name_m]Arrow[/name_m], she could use it and if she hated it, she could go by her actual name.

I think it’s a p cool name! Def gender neutral, I personally wouldn’t hear the name [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] and think ‘violent’ but maybe that’s just me.

I would not use [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] for a girl or a boy.

I like the suggestions of a fuller girl name with [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] as a nickname so she’s not stuck with it as her given name.

I saw [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], those are pretty names. You can use those =]

Not only can a girl pull of [name_m]Arrow[/name_m], I think she could rock it! It is beautiful and different and wears on any sort of personality. It could be stunning.

I’ve always liked Aero, and though it seems more on the masculine side it could certainly work for a girl. [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] is less appealing to me because it’s so much more clearly a noun. Also, it’s worth considering the growing popularity of [name_m]Archer[/name_m] for boys, and whether that could cause any confusion/embarrassment.

I used to have [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] nn [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] on my list years ago! I fell out of love with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and tucked [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] away for a long time. Last summer I miscarried and I named the baby [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]. I didn’t know the gender and I fell in love with the quote, “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is pulling you back with difficulties, it means it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming.”

I love this so much. I’m so sorry about the loss of your baby, you’ll see little [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] again; I have no doubt about that. I’m sure she/he is waiting to give mommy a big hug <3

Thank you so much for your kind words, this made me tear up. <3
