Ok. I probably have major pregnancy brain but would [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] be too matchy or cutesy for twin boys? Random thought but don’t know if I could do it.
I don’t think the names itself are matchy, but you mean the reference to The Sword in the stone and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Merlin[/name_m]/[name_m]Emrys[/name_m] ?
Hmm. I kind of like them together. Many people aren’t familiar enough to know that [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]=[name_m]Merlin[/name_m], so it would almost seem like a hidden bonus.
Agree with previous poster
I love both names, but it does feel a little matchy to me. That being said it probably won’t be for most, so it might be fine.
@aurorag Yes I like the sound of them together, it was just the connection in Arthurian legend that I’m not sure would come across like naming your kids [name_m]Tom[/name_m] and [name_u]Jerry[/name_u]. Lol
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
I think they are too matchy - I got the connection immediately.
I’m from the Northeast US and had absolutely no idea [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] had anything to do with [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] would be too matchy for me, but I never knew [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] was associated with them.
I don’t see them as match-y at all. It’s not like you’re naming them [name_u]Devon[/name_u] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u] or [name_m]Jake[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. The names are tied together in a neat way that isn’t obvious to most people.
I had no idea [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] was connected to [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] in any way, and I doubt most people in real life would either. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if they did it’s not a bad or too cutesy connection. Nevertheless, they’re both incredibly handsome names and if I were you I’d use them.
I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] are lovely together, not too matchy or cutesy at all
(I think it’s a bonus that there’s a “hidden” connection ;))
