Previously set on middle name [name]David[/name] but [name]Arthur[/name] is a family name so considering this as a first name instead and not sure about [name]Arthur[/name] [name]David[/name], it is sorta blah to me and I have had a strong pull toward the water in this pregnancy. Other considerations lately have been [name]River[/name], [name]Grey[/name], [name]Knox[/name] and [name]Simon[/name]. [name]Arthur[/name] would be: “[name]Arthur[/name]”, “[name]Ari[/name]”, “[name]Thor[/name]” or “[name]Bear[/name]” (name my husband likes on its own actually and I can’t get him to agree on [name]Theodore[/name], nn [name]Teddy[/name] or [name]Bear[/name] or [name]Theo[/name]).
I love the name [name]Arthur[/name]! It is one of my favorites! I also really love [name]Caspian[/name]! [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Caspian[/name] is a great combo!
I think [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Caspian[/name] is quite a regal combination. For me it would be a bit much but I think it sounds nice. I actually really like [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Grey[/name] though. Good luck!
Ugh, I mentioned [name]Arthur[/name] to my mom and she is like “hate it”. I said “well, you would like it if you had a grandson named [name]Arthur[/name]” and she goes “nope. I will never like it, I would only have to learn to live with it”. I don’t know why I even bother sharing, I should know better by now!
oh, did I mention she also dislikes every other name on my list and keeps suggesting “[name]Mason[/name]”…? She also isn’t crazy about another option I had: Arlo.
p.s. I know I shouldn’t let it bother me so much and shouldn’t even share with her. I am not looking for her to say “yes, I love it” but maybe saying “oh, it is ok, or it is decent” would make me feel so much better as it makes me feel like I am so consumed in trying to name the baby that I can’t see that I am picking really horrible names.
[name]Arthur[/name] is a wonderful name and [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Caspian[/name] is a great combination! Your mom’s reaction might be partly generational; to [name]Baby[/name] Boomers, [name]Arthur[/name] is kind of a dowdy old man name but it’s definitely back and cool again. And what could be a better nickname than [name]Art[/name]? [name]Mason[/name], please!!
Thanks [name]Pam[/name]. That makes me feel more validated and not like I am a loon in all my searching for the perfect name. Moreover my husband likes [name]Arthur[/name] too and even getting him on my same page hasn’t been easy. I appreciate your feedback!
[name]Arthur[/name] is great and I love it paired with [name]Caspian[/name]. I agree about [name]Arthur[/name] [name]David[/name] not working that well. I really like [name]Theodore[/name] and I think it would make a great first name choice. You seem to really like [name]Bear[/name] as a nickname, have you also considerd [name]Edward[/name] which can have the nickname [name]Teddy[/name]/[name]Bear[/name]?
Thanks! We have considered [name]Edward[/name] but not sure if I like [name]Edward[/name] [name]David[/name] either and while DH likes [name]Bear[/name], he is only so so on [name]Teddy[/name] though said he does like [name]Edward[/name] (it is another family name) .
I love [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Caspian[/name]! That name just sounds so noble and charming to me. My mom hates my top 2 boys names, too. The way I see it is she already got to name her kid, so she doesn’t get to name mine. I do think she will grow to love it when she associates it with her grandson. And [name]IMO[/name], [name]Mason[/name] can’t hold a candle to [name]Arthur[/name].
[name]LOVE[/name] IT! My husband would not go for this at all. Nothing to do with [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name], so [name]Tristan[/name] was also cut. Luckily I love enough names that this tragedy was not a full on Chernobyl.
lol. I have my husband on [name]Arthur[/name] but haven’t sold him on [name]Caspian[/name] yet… he promised to think about the combo though so so far so good!
yeah, I know he doesn’t like [name]Caspian[/name] but I have really been loving it especially in the middle spot. [name]Do[/name] you think it is ok to call [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Ari[/name]? I know [name]Arthur[/name] would get shortened to Ar/R so it seems like a natural nickname even though I know it is a name in and of itself.
I don’t see why not. I think the best nn’s come naturally so I would wait and see what feels right at the time.
I love [name]Caspian[/name] & [name]Casper[/name] (but will never get [name]Casper[/name] past the husband - still hope for [name]Caspian[/name] though).
