I’ve always liked [name_m]Archie[/name_m]! Good friend of my son’s goes by [name_m]Archie[/name_m] (although I’m not sure what his given name is…)

I had [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u] on my list for my second. The others could definitely work, depending on how cooperative your family members are and whether you care what other people call him

If you want to use [name_m]Archie[/name_m], I would go with [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. [name_m]Bear[/name_m] works though.

I voted for [name_m]Bear[/name_m] but both work.

[name_m]Bear[/name_m] is cute, but no one except for extreme baby name enthusiasts will understand how you got to it.

I love both, but slightly prefer [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. I don’t think either is much of a stretch, but then with nicknames, I think pretty much anything goes.

At the end of the day, you can call him whatever you like. I think [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is pretty out of the blue, but [name_m]Bear[/name_m] seems like the sort of family term of endearment you could use for any child, regardless of given name. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is only two syllables, I don’t see a burning need for any short version, although terms of endearment will probably arise naturally.

I like [name_m]Archie[/name_m] (my [name_m]Archer[/name_m] would be [name_m]Archer[/name_m] or [name_m]Arch[/name_m]) but love the nickname/pet name [name_m]Bear[/name_m].

I would just use [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as a pet name. [name_m]Archie[/name_m] from [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] doesn’t make sense as the names are the same length and completely unrelated. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] doesn’t really need a nickname.

Thank you for your feedback! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I enjoy receiving the poll results and reading your comments as they provide us with welcomed honest insight into how these potential nicknames will be received. We still have a few more months to mull it over and will post what we decide.

I would go with [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. I don’t get [name_m]Archie[/name_m] at all from [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], but [name_m]Bear[/name_m] has at least some connection to the name, since that is one of the possible meanings (the true etymology of the name is quite heavily disputed, a Celtic (Welsh) name that does mean bear however is Arthen, which is close to [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]). [name_m]Even[/name_m] if others don’t get it, I think [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is an adorable family name really, for any given name.

I don’t think [name_m]Archie[/name_m] words ([name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is on my super short serious list, too, and I understand your wanting more nn options, because I don’t [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Art[/name_m]/[name_m]Artie[/name_m], but I’m willing to go with it), but I think that [name_m]Bear[/name_m] (and [name_m]Thor[/name_m]) are really cool, out of the box choices. I voted [name_m]Bear[/name_m]!

They both work, I voted for [name_m]Bear[/name_m] because I think it is more fun!

THANK YOU!!! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I also love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] but don’t like [name_m]Art[/name_m] or [name_m]Artie[/name_m]. We were thinking of [name_m]Thor[/name_m] for short but I didn’t know if it was too “out there” for us. But I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. So cute!

I don’t really see [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] as needing a nn, but if I had to pick one, I’d say [name_u]Ari[/name_u] is a good choice. It’s good for a young boy but seems to age well, like he could keep growing into it. [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is too much of a stretch–maybe a family pet name? [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is a nn for [name_m]Archer[/name_m] or [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], or a name in its own right, imo. For what it’s worth, I think [name_m]Art[/name_m] and [name_m]Artie[/name_m] are awesome nns for [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]! If [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is in, why not [name_m]Artie[/name_m]?
