I posted last week and got some amazing suggestions for a baby (due in two days) but we still havnt found the right first or middle name yet!
[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] is my favourite name of all time and I cant imagine loving another name as much. Plus he gets lots of compliments on his name and i dont want the other child feeling like their name wasnt as ‘thoughtful’ as his. He is named after a famous landscape painter. We are a family of artists, creatives and academics so fine with names from all over the world (love french, german names) but nothing that sounds ‘made up’…a name you’ve heard before but know no one (or only one or two) people named that. Nothing too cool/trendy/popular
Criteria:
matches well with [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] - being both gentle but strong, familar but rare (non influencer type name)
boy/girl/unisex names all good
cute nickname options
dont mind if it starts with ‘C’ as well
must go with last name ‘Lloyd’
First name shortlist: (plus anything else you can suggest)
[name_m]Boy[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] (Rubi/Rubes)
[name_u]Leon[/name_u] (Leo)
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u] (Wes)
Unisex
[name_u]Cadence[/name_u] (Cade - hate this nickname though and dont want to get Cadie)
Mellow
Middle name shortlist: (plus anything else you suggest or above names here with your first name suggestion)
[name_u]Dawson[/name_u] *
[name_u]George[/name_u] *
Heatley*
Bright*
[name_u]Adler[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_m]Talon[/name_m]
[name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Buckley[/name_m]
[name_m]Oswin[/name_m]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
*homage to family
Thank you so much! Posting here last week was the closest we have been to finding names we really like so we appreciate everyones contributions!
I like Reuben and Wesley best of your short list but kind of like Reuben because it strikes me as slightly less “heard” and (I think) matches well with Caspar, and the surname.
You mentioned “star” names and bright so I couldn’t help but think of Orion.
Reuben Orion Lloyd…or
Orion Bright Lloyd…or
Reuben Bright Lloyd
If you chose option 1, would be cool to hear the nn “Reubie” paired with the middle, i.e., ruby orion (makes me think of a bright red gem constellation)
I love your short list, especially Reuben. Also feel like Grey and Otis would be awesome as first names, not just middles! Grey Dawson pairs nicely I think.
Boy:
Lionel
Cyrus
Dante
Otto
Lucian
Marlon
Roscoe
Banksy (we know a young Banksy! I assume named after the graffiti artist, though I’ve never actually asked)
Girl:
Alma
Freida
Willow
Olive
Daphne
Paloma
Unisex:
Roman / Romane
Juno / Junot
Pascal / Pascale
Verne / Vernon
Monet (there’s a children’s book about a little girl named Monet, named after the author’s daughter)
Wishing you comfort in your last few days of pregnancy!
You’ve gotten some great suggestions already but I just wanted to offer forward the gentle [name_m]Eero[/name_m]
Eero’s got that artistic connection from the architect [name_m]Eero[/name_m] Saarinen, and was the first thing to come to mind for your description — it’s gentle and a little fantasy-esque, starry and strong, possibly with [name_f]Ro[/name_f] as a cute unisex nickname? For me, [name_m]Eero[/name_m] brings to mind starswept skies, idyllic lakes, soft baby blue, dandelions, the scent of lavender, & bumblebees… sort of
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] is my favourite of your options - gentle but solid, cute nicknames, familiar but I’ve only ever met one.
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u] would be great!
I like [name_u]Leon[/name_u] too but with popularity of [name_u]Leo[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] too, it doesn’t feel like it fits the rare but familiar vibe?
[name_u]Cadence[/name_u] is beautiful too - love it! [name_u]Cadence[/name_u] [name_u]Dawson[/name_u] and [name_u]Cadence[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] would be lovely
