I have been really loving these names lately. What are your thoughts on [name_u]Ashby[/name_u] and [name_u]Merritt[/name_u]? What are some middle name combos you think work well for them?
[name_u]Ashby[/name_u] is cute but bordering on sounding made up.
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u], on the other hand, is beautiful. Perhaps I have a good association after seeing a young, poised, elegant girl once with this name. [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] could be grouped with [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_u]Sailor[/name_u], and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]; there’s this very “[name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]England[/name_f] navy blue sailboat and pearls” vibe.
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u] is a great name — strong and modern but not too common or invented-sounding. I see the appeal of [name_u]Ashby[/name_u], but it seems less attractive to me, somehow both childish and kind of a grandpa name. On a girl, it would get confused for [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] a lot, and it’s harder to say. If it were a family surname or honor name it could work well, but otherwise something like [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] or [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] would make a more classic pair.
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u] is a guilty pleasure for me. I think it sounds good but looks so pretty! [name_u]Ashby[/name_u] is a little too similar to [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] for me.
