I love the name [name_m]Archer[/name_m]! Much prefer it to [name_m]Asher[/name_m] but I do think that [name_m]Silas[/name_m] goes better as a middle choice, however, as [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] means so much to you then I can’t see a problem with [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] X
Thank you. I am so stuck. I love all three, especially [name_m]Asher[/name_m], but I really want to honor as many family members as I can with this baby, being it is our last. Our other children are named after family too, at least for the middle names.
The only thing I’m worried about for the name [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is the nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m], which I dislike.
IF I should use [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] though, I’d probably call them [name_m]Eli[/name_m].
I know what you mean as I hate that nn too. If you use [name_m]Eli[/name_m] or [name_u]Ray[/name_u] as a nn then others will follow and then [name_m]Archie[/name_m] won’t be used. I know loads of people who always go by their full name and some that have a nn so I don’t even know their real names! If you set the president of the nn then others should follow. Follow your heart on this one as they’re all lovely X
Thank you, dear!
If you love [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and it’s meaningful I’d use it. It sounds good with both [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_m]Asher[/name_m].
Between them I prefer [name_m]Asher[/name_m], but [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is very nice and maybe goes a tad better with your sibset.
I don’t think you can go wrong honestly. [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] are both great names.
Thank you so much!
I’m still so stuck- and it seems like so are voters, hehe.
Right now all combos have 4 a piece. Oh lord. This is tough.
I’d keep [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] over [name_m]Silas[/name_m], and I think [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] goes better than [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. I personally prefer [name_m]Archer[/name_m], and I like that it’s also an honor name, but [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] would be fine too.
I much prefer [name_m]Asher[/name_m] to [name_m]Archer[/name_m], but I like the family tie with [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. Much as I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_m]Silas[/name_m], and really like [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Silas[/name_m], I wouldn’t claim family ties, because [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] are VERY loosely related, and don’t really even sound alike (I would have no problem naming two sons [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m], for example), and it’s already a stretch to honor an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] with [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] (I haven’t been able to find any info that [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is a variant of [name_f]Alice[/name_f]–they just sound quite similar, to me. I’m curious where you heard that?). I think [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] to honor an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] works, but [name_m]Silas[/name_m] to honor an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] really doesn’t work. Since I prefer [name_m]Asher[/name_m] to [name_m]Archer[/name_m], I would go by what I’d actually call my son, so [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] gets my vote.
Good luck!
Thank you so much for all of that! Wonderful insight, really makes me think.
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]: It may be the way I pronounce [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. [name_m]Sy[/name_m]-less like S + eyeless. Lol. [name_f]Ell[/name_f]-iss. I’m not sure.
When we decided to honor his grandma [name_f]Alice[/name_f], I was typing into Google “[name_m]Male[/name_m] variations of [name_f]Alice[/name_f]” and there were several that read [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. We actually have [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Nova[/name_f] for our girl’s name should we have a girl.
I adore [name_m]Asher[/name_m] so much, but would love to honor both sides of my family (Mom’s maiden name was [name_m]Archer[/name_m], my grandfather [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] from opposite side that raised me) + husbands grandma that passed so [name_m]Archer[/name_m] I like, I just can’t get over [name_m]Archie[/name_m].
Thanks. That’s why it’s tough, love family tie to [name_m]Archer[/name_m] hate nickname…well possible nickname. [name_m]Asher[/name_m] was going to be [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]'s name should she been a boy. So with her being just short of two years, we still love it. I don’t care about popularity much, as I survived it with my son [name_u]Ayden[/name_u].
I can’t help but think about the BAD association part of [name_m]Archer[/name_m], even though it honors my mother… my grandpa on her side was an awful man.
As I read thru the replies, I think how much more important [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is RATHER than [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. As my grandpa [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] raised me. And since we really do love [name_m]Asher[/name_m], I am leaning [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] at the moment. And I keep thinking what IF people call him [name_m]Archie[/name_m] if we use [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. I much prefer the nn [name_u]Ash[/name_u] that would come with [name_m]Asher[/name_m].
Sorry to respond every two seconds. Sometimes I feel like it’s tough, sometimes I feel it’s an easy choice. Darn pregnancy hormones.
