Ashlyn, Alyson, Lila

Hello! We are having trouble deciding between [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Alyson[/name_f], and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] for a first name. Her middle name will definitely be [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] which is a family name. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] might be tricky because another close family member wanted to use [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] for her baby name, but is no longer planning to have more children. [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to gauge other people’s opinions of [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_f]Alyson[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. Thanks for helping! Any other suggestions as alternatives to the three first names are welcome.

[name_u]Allison[/name_u] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] is super cute, not a fan of the [name_f]Alyson[/name_f] spelling

I also like [name_u]Allison[/name_u] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] or [name_f]Alison[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], not so into the [name_f]Alyson[/name_f] spelling–feels less authentic. Second favorite would be [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. I think it’s fine to use if the relative isn’t having any more kids, but you could always ask. [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] looks too much like a modernization of [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] to me.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] would definitely be my favourite! If you think your family member is definitely not having any more children perhaps you could ask them if they wouldn’t mind you using [name_f]Lila[/name_f]?

[name_f]Alyson[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] strongly reminds me of the main character from the TV show ‘The Affair’. I don’t know if that’s a problem for you but just wanted to throw it out there incase! I too prefer the spelling [name_u]Allison[/name_u]/[name_f]Alison[/name_f].

I really like the sound of [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], so that one gets my vote! [name_f]Alyson[/name_f] and [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] feel very 90s to me.

[name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] is my favourite, followed by [name_f]Alyson[/name_f]!

I second @lawsonhaley - [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] would be my favourite, although I love the [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f] spelling. This would be followed by [name_f]Lila[/name_f] - [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] is a great combo. I really like [name_f]Alison[/name_f] too, actually the name of one of my closest friends, though not with the ‘y’ myself (sorry!).

All three are beautiful names, so you can’t go too wrong, wherever you heart ultimately goes.

Thank you all! I think we have some great names and maybe just need to wait to see her to ultimately decide.

I only like the [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f]/ [name_f]Aislin[/name_f] spellings of this name. My first choice is [name_f]Alyson[/name_f], and I really like this spelling. Over the history of the English language people have been swapping 'i’s and 'y’s forever, so to use [name_f]Alyson[/name_f] is just as legitimate as [name_f]Alison[/name_f]. (eg [name_f]Edythe[/name_f] is an older version of [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Alys[/name_f] for [name_f]Alice[/name_f]). [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is nice too.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is definitely my favourite. I would ask my relative what he/she thinks about using it for my own daughter. I prefer the [name_u]Allison[/name_u] or [name_f]Alison[/name_f] spellings, [name_f]Alyson[/name_f] is not my style at all. Not a fan of [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f].
