Asking for a friend! Thoughts/opinions on baby girl's name

My husband and I are expecting our first child in early [name_f]October[/name_f]. We’ve tentatively both agreed on [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] as a first name for now (about 80% decided, haha), and are starting to think about potential middles. Our last name is [name_m]King[/name_m], so ideally I’d love to have a 3- or 4-syllable middle for best “flow,” if that makes sense!

However, we have another thing to consider. My husband’s mother, [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], passed away 10 years ago, and so we were also throwing around the idea of using something similar to “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]” to honor her memory. I’ve been having a hard time with any of the “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]” offshoots, though . . . the only one I kind of like is “[name_u]Winter[/name_u],” but I"m not sure about how I like it combined with our last name.

Here are the potential middles we’re tossing around right now . . . so, what do you all think? Your honest thoughts would be much appreciated!

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m] (does this one have too much of the “u” sound?)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]

OR . . . if we went with a name honoring “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]” in some way:

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_m]King[/name_m] (too much?)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m] (too . . . strong-ish? I don’t know how else to describe how this combo makes me feel)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Wynne[/name_u] [name_m]King[/name_m] (not enough flow with the one-syllable middle and last name?)

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_m]King[/name_m]

Have you considered [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]? I agree that a longer middle has a better flow with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] as first name and [name_m]King[/name_m] as last name.

From your first list I like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] the best, but they are all lovely combinations.

I’m guessing you don’t like [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]? I think it’s great, but it’s perhaps an acquired taste!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Winona[/name_f] [name_m]King[/name_m]? I think the flow is lovely, you get your “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]*» name in there, and as a bonus [name_f]Winona[/name_f] means “first-born daughter”. Perfect!

Of your options, I really like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]… One last suggestion: how about [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]? It seems to have the same dramatic, ethereal, uber-feminine feel as names like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and you get that “win” sound again.

I really like [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]! Also the suggestion of [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Winona[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] as was to honor your mom, but I think [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is a better flow.

Other ideas:
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
Winry
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
