I love [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! I’m not sure about [name_f]Junia[/name_f] or [name_f]Juna[/name_f]–I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] more than both of them, but they’re both nice. They’re all nice, as a matter of fact–I just like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] best as FNs. I love [name_f]Aster[/name_f], but prefer it as a MN.
I’m not very fond of [name_f]Aster[/name_f] or [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] but I prefer [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], however I don’t like the D in [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] running into Dickenson. There is the AS part in both names as well and I think that it may be too much with the beginning of the last name. I love [name_f]Junia[/name_f] it’s spunky and sophisticated and NN [name_u]June[/name_u] is a plus for sure. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is darling, [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] would be perfect.
I love love [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] but I’d have to say both “ass” and “dick” together in the same name is a no-no unfortunately. Also not a fan of the d’s running into eachother between names. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] is really cool, and [name_u]June[/name_u]/Junebug are cute nicknames… It’s an underused gem for sure. I knew a wonderful lady named [name_f]Junia[/name_f], too, so I may be a bit biased! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is just wonderful. Simple and sweet.
Wow! These are great, thoughtful comments! [name_m]Just[/name_m] what I was looking for.
Why [name_f]Junia[/name_f] over [name_f]Juna[/name_f]? It is the more historical of the two but I worry [name_f]Junia[/name_f] will be misheard as [name_f]Julia[/name_f] too often and [name_u]June[/name_u]/[name_f]Juni[/name_f] are nicknames for [name_f]Juna[/name_f] too. You say [name_u]June[/name_u]-ee-ah or [name_u]June[/name_u]-ya?
No one is saying anything about Aven… avens are a wildflower likes asters which is why it appeals to me but what are your thoughts?
@ashthedreamer: Why [name_f]Aster[/name_f] as a middle name only? Is it the “ass” issues that also worry @bedhead and @lightsea as well as my hubby?
I say [name_f]Junie[/name_f]-a. I do prefer it because it is more historical. With [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Aster[/name_f] I definitely worry about “ass” especially with the LN. Aven is ok but doesn’t stand out to me, I feel like [name_f]Junia[/name_f] leaves more of an impression. I stand by [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
[name_f]Aster[/name_f] – she’s a lot lighter than [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], giving it a lovely, airy and whimsical type feel that I like. I do quite like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] too, though.
[name_f]Juna[/name_f] – I love the look of [name_f]Junia[/name_f], but when I say it sounds far too much like ‘junior’ (in my accent) and that brings it down greatly for me. [name_f]Juna[/name_f] is short and sweet and doesn’t have that problem.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] – It’s faerie-like and warm, and I like that. I can’t say I’m fond of Aven at all though - it looks/sounds very trendy, with its -en ending, Av- beginning and look of [name_u]Haven[/name_u] sans the H.
I voted for [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f], and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Aster[/name_f] goes better with a D last name, but I think it would often get misheard as [name_f]Esther[/name_f].
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] is just a name I really like, whereas [name_f]Juna[/name_f] feels kind of incomplete to me.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is a lovely name, but Aven sounds really trendy, even if it’s on the list with good intentions.
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Aster[/name_f] would be my picksout of the names listed.
I love [name_f]Aster[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] about equally but I voted for [name_f]Aster[/name_f] in the end, although I really don’t have a preference.
[name_f]Junia[/name_f] always strikes me as a misspelled [name_f]Julia[/name_f], so I voted [name_f]Juna[/name_f], which is so lovely and unusual!
I like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] much better than Aven, I know the latter means “bird” but it’s also the abbreviation of the Asexual Visibility and Education Network, and I really can’t see it apart from that (most people who are not asexual/aromantic spectrum will never have heard of this though, so I don’t think it’s a real big matter).
[name_f]Aster[/name_f] heard [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Junia[/name_f] as [name_f]Julia[/name_f] are concerns indeed, although it is more important to me (a [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] often heard as [name_f]Thea[/name_f] or [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]) that the names can be pronounced when seen or read.
Is [name_f]Juna[/name_f] or [name_f]Junia[/name_f] usable even though this baby is likely going to be born in early [name_u]July[/name_u]? [name_m]Just[/name_m] can’t stomach [name_f]Julia[/name_f]!
I think [name_f]Juna[/name_f] and [name_f]Junia[/name_f] can definitely work.
They’re all beautiful- I love [name_f]Aster[/name_f]!
[name_f]Aster[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f], and Aven.
Aven is the most beautiful of them all though
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!
Everyone seems to love [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! It is more popular than all my other names where I live but still not common.
And everyone prefers either [name_f]Juna[/name_f] or [name_f]Junia[/name_f] but there’s no clear winner there: [name_f]Junia[/name_f] is more historical but can be mistaken for [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_m]Junior[/name_m], and Yunia but to others [name_f]Juna[/name_f] seems made-up or lacking something.
