I feel like if I vote “no” I should offer up a reason. I would just worry that off the tongue her name would be shortened to “ass” - even if you wouldn’t do it at home i could see it happening at school and then teasing ensues…sorry!

It is completely useable. It’s a pretty name, goes along good right now with the trendy “[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]” I’ve seen so so so much of.

I love [name_f]Aster[/name_f]! I’m not so sure about the whole teasibility thing as I don’t live in an English-speaking country and pronounce the name differently so the “ass” thing doesn’t really come up to me…

From your signature, I like [name_f]Aster[/name_f] with [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_m]Lucien[/name_m], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] & [name_f]Thea[/name_f].

Completely usable! The “as” start sound is the same as in [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], and [name_m]Aston[/name_m]. I know an [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and an [name_m]Aston[/name_m] and “ass” has never even crossed my mind.

I think it is quite usable. If it weren’t for the teasing potential, even though I don’ think it would be a big problem, I might prefer it to Afton <3

Thanks, everyone! Opinion seems pretty divided. Any other Berries want to offer up their votes/thoughts?

I like [name_f]Aster[/name_f]. It has a lot of great imagery to it, and honestly any name can be teased. I don’t think the sound of the name makes it unusable.

I have always loved [name_f]Astra[/name_f], and [name_f]Aster[/name_f] is just as lovely sounding. Something long and feminine in the middle would be my choice: [name_f]Aster[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], [name_f]Aster[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Aster[/name_f] [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f] would be beautiful. Good find!

It’s totally usable to me. Spunky, fun, feminine but not frilly, and with the beautiful connections to the natural world you mentioned. It’s unusual, i.e. rarely used as a name, but is a familiar word and has similar sounds to other names. Like PPs have said, [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]/[name_m]Aston[/name_m]/[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] have the As- sound too and those names are all used.
