I personally much prefer [name_u]Fable[/name_u] over [name_f]Astoria[/name_f]. I personally do not like the look or sound of [name_f]Astoria[/name_f]. Sorry. I do love [name_u]Story[/name_u]. I have both [name_u]Story[/name_u] and [name_u]Fable[/name_u] on my long list. Both names are very meaningful to my family.
I love both, but I like [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] better for you so you still have the option to use [name_f]Aria[/name_f] even if it’s just a family nn.
I personally really like [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] as a first and [name_u]Fable[/name_u] as a middle. It’s not that it’s too unusual or out there as a first, I just think it can add more to a name as a middle. I can’t quite imagine a [name_u]Fable[/name_u] as well as I can an [name_f]Astoria[/name_f]. But I like the magical feel of both of them, plus the touch of mystery and darkness I feel [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] especially has, whilst [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is sweeter and more adorable (in my mind). I think [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] can get away with a slightly more out there middle, maybe even a word name, as it feels more name like. Along the lines of [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] [name_f]Elke[/name_f], [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f], or even [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]. Whereas [name_u]Fable[/name_u] may need a more solid middle such as [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], or [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f].
Thank you for the feedback! It’s great to gather this information, I’m so stoked about finding two more names I genuinely like. I’ve been in a name rut for a while.
I think [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] is a beautiful, underused name (I am slightly biased as there is a very small link to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] Greengrass/Malfoy is a very, very minor character:)) and much more substantial as a fn than [name_u]Fable[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u] would be a very pretty combination.
[name_u]Fable[/name_u], all the way! [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] look very pretty and it is a beautiful name, but I have trouble saying it and it has many nn options that perhaps you wouldn’t like. [name_u]Story[/name_u] is a gorgeous nn for it, but I feel like most people would veer towards [name_f]Tori[/name_f], which doesn’t have the same feeling as I get from [name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_f]Astoria[/name_f]. I also am not such a fan of the hissy “As” at the beginning.
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] has been on my list forever, and will always be a favorite name for me. It is familiar while being gorgeously unusual, just like [name_f]Aria[/name_f], but with infinitely less usage. [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is intelligent and lovely, with a beautiful charm that is incredibly rare in word names like these. Honestly, I could sing its praises for endless amounts of time. It is literary and clearly a word name, but not over-the-top. Also, a fable is a story with a moral. What more beautiful a way could you tell your little one that there is always hope, that they will always be loved because their lives have value? [name_u]Fable[/name_u] rolls off the tongue like a song, and is perfectly short while still landing an impact. [name_u]Fable[/name_u].
I saw the HP connection too @wingardiumliviosa ! I thought it was fun as I’m a huge HP fan and much more subtle than [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] or [name_m]Draco[/name_m].
@tranquilstars you need to be a spokesperson for [name_u]Fable[/name_u]! I love how you descries why you love it so much <3
I really feel tempted to just use Fable Astoria and call it a day so I can have my cake and eat it too ”
I definitely prefer [name_f]Astoria[/name_f]. Though I really do love [name_f]Aria[/name_f], I think [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] is a good second option. And you can still call her [name_f]Aria[/name_f] if you’d like. But I’m a big fan of [name_u]Story[/name_u] for a nn.
