I was just wondering what you think of this combo. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other middle suggestions that you think work better? Any worries/concerns?
Thinking about using two middle names… any ideas?
Last name is two syllables and rhymes with ‘panic’ but starts with ‘st’.
I think [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Corrine[/name_f] is a lovely combination, but I personally prefer the [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] (coh-[name_f]RIN[/name_f]) spelling. Gorgeous- honestly, I think it sounds beautiful. I think [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] sounds great with your last name, and while there might be a good second middle floating around, I think for the most part it would undercut [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]'s stark, simple elegance.
Hmmm. Well, I love [name_f]Corrine[/name_f]. Always have. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] sounds a bit harsh though. And [name_f]Corrine[/name_f] has no softness at all to it. Oddly, this makes them match nicely. I think it is just a little too harsh for me although I like the way nooshi described [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] as stark and elegant.
They do sound a bit harsh together, with a lot of emphasis on the hard consonants (TRDC). [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] with the last name ending in the sound -anic sounds quite familiar and doesn’t seem to flow nicely for me. The names themselves are nice, however!
Thank you! [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] sounds lovely, actually. But have I been pronouncing [name_f]Corrine[/name_f] wrong? [name_m]How[/name_m] do you really pronounce it? Ugh… how embarrassing. Thanks for your input about the second middle.
Thank you! Actually, one of the reasons I like about [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] is that it is - as nooshi put it - stark. It’s strong and viking and has an abundance of amazingly positive connotations to me. Thanks for sharing your opinion though - I’ll take into consideration whether it’s too harsh - my last name is rather “stark” too
Thanks! I still like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], but maybe a softer middle name with vowels to balance out the harsher first and last?
I quite like it, although I vastly prefer the [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] spelling. It just seems a bit softer and sweeter to me, and plus, I think technically [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] is cor-[name_f]RIN[/name_f] but [name_f]Corrine[/name_f] is cor-reen (just like [name_f]Corinna[/name_f] is cor-rin-ah and [name_f]Corrina[/name_f] is kuh-ree-nah). I think [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] would be delightful! [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] was my first idea. But I also like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], and if you want two middles, [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] ([name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!) or [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f].
Good luck!
ETA: Also, I would disagree with the others. I’ve always felt that [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] was really, really soft. I can’t think of any way that it’s harsh? With my synesthesia, I see it as a creamy-peach color (very very pale and like peaches-and-creme skin), and it almost flows all together so I don’t really hear the vowels. Crinnnnnee. Crinnee. It just seems to go on forever, like floating on clouds high above all worries and concerns. It’s so peaceful and non-combatant. I think [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] provide a really excellent contrast, honestly!
Thank you for explaining that. I actually really like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] - but I have [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a first name I’m intending on using If I have twins, I’d like to use [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] because they’re just so contrasting yet sounds great together ([name_f]IMO[/name_f]).
Thank you!
Yes, though I can see why some would say it’s harsh - it depends on the accents. For my accent it’s soft like yours, but I’ve hear [name_f]Corrine[/name_f] in some accents that is very harsh. Again, thank you so so much.
I like the idea you had about a softer middle. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] is growing on me. I’m having a hard time thinking of middles for it though. What about [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]?
I looked up Norse names and found [name_f]Eir[/name_f] pronounced like air. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Eir[/name_f]? I kinda like the notion of the first and last having Norse roots.
There is an episode of the Office where the lead characters ex-lover is pregnant and plans to name the baby [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]. However, he mishears it as “ass turd” and hilarity ensues. I can’t get past this, and the fact that if anyone shortens it, it turns into ass. I want to love the name, but I can’t.
