Astrid nn Tess - too far a stretch?

Hello dear Berries

As some of you may know, I’m changing my name. I’ve pretty much settled on [name]Astrid[/name], and as I was introducing myself to someone this morning, the slight possibility of the nn [name]Tess[/name] occurred to me. It’s quite a big stretch to make it work, but is it too big a stretch?

I can see [name]Tess[/name] as a nn for [name]Astrid[/name].

I love the idea of [name]Astrid[/name] nn [name]Tess[/name]! I think it’s too much of a stretch as it is, but if you use a MN with the “S” sound (especially [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Serena[/name], or something else that starts with an “S”?), I think the nn [name]Tess[/name] could work.

Totally can work. I mean, c’mon [name]Sadie[/name] is a nickname for [name]Sarah[/name]!

I agree. I think [name]Tess[/name] works as a nn for [name]Astrid[/name].

I think [name]Tess[/name] is a stretch for [name]Astrid[/name]. I’m not even sure I get the idea of a mn starting or with a strong “s” sound. I like both a lot though. I think [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Theresa[/name] would be a nice fn mn combo and then [name]Tess[/name] as a nn would be an obvious option.

If she went by [name]Tess[/name], I would never guess her name was [name]Astrid[/name], so yeah, I think it’s a stretch…
