Astronomical Sibset

I am starting to put together some sibsets that are based around themes which are meaningful to me. The first one I am starting with is based on astronomy, which my father loved and I became very interested in too. [name_f]My[/name_f] name was actually inspired by the [name_u]Hale[/name_u] Bopp comet so this has a lot of meaning.

I am trying to come up options for three pairs consisting of girl-boy, girl-girl and boy-boy. I am still working on defining what my naming preferences are for girl names. It is a bit all over the place at the moment and that’s why I am trying to narrow it down somewhat. They can range from classical to modern, probably less common, but [name_f]Emma[/name_f], as an example, is one I really like, so I don’t rule out common names. Something inspirational or aspirational. Most of all the significance I place on the name and personal meaning to me is more important, in a sense like an honoring name where it is not necessarily honoring a person but something in my life.

For boy names I have a huge soft spot for feminine names on boys and actually tend to really like names that are used more for girls on boys. But at the same time it does need to be a name that I do feel a boy could carry and wear well, so I find it encouraging if the name has a history of being used for boys in the past. or is really like gender neutral. Again, the significance and meaning to me is really most important.

At the moment I find I have more options for girl names than boys that meet this criteria based around the astronomy theme. For example, for girls I like [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], [name_u]Nova[/name_u] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u]. For boys I am struggling and the closest I can come up with so far that I like is [name_u]Skye[/name_u] (even though I prefer the [name_f]Isle[/name_f] spelling). I am wondering if [name_u]Seren[/name_u] maybe usable for both. So here are some sibsets:

Girl-Girl: [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
Girl-Girl: [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
Girl-Girl: [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
Girl-Girl: [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_u]Nova[/name_u]
Girl-Girl: [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_u]Nova[/name_u]

Girl-Boy: [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
Girl-Boy: [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
Girl-Boy: [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
Girl-Boy: [name_u]Nova[/name_u] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
Girl-Boy: [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u]
Girl-Boy: [name_f]Lya[/name_f] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u]
Girl-Boy: [name_u]Nova[/name_u] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u]

Boy-Boy: [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u]
Boy-Boy: [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] (nn Andro or [name_u]Romy[/name_u])
Boy-Boy: [name_u]Seren[/name_u] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]

Which ones do you like of each category (if any) and can you suggest some other boy names for me that may work well with these sibsets?

Oh, I love [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_u]Nova[/name_u]!
I like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u] too!
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] is unisex to me.

Hmm…maybe [name_u]Aquila[/name_u]? A constellation and unisex name.

Other boy names:
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_m]Sirius[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Jupiter[/name_m]
[name_u]Mercury[/name_u]

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] are lovely! I also really like [name_u]Nova[/name_u] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u]!

[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] is a little too feminine on a boy for me, but I could definitely see it on one. In Greek mythology [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] is the daughter of the king of the Kingdom of Kush; Cepheus and his wife [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f]. So to me it’d be like naming your son after a Greek goddess. I do however like the nickname [name_u]Romy[/name_u]!

Here are some other astrological boy names:
[name_u]Comet[/name_u]
[name_m]Ender[/name_m]
[name_m]Jupiter[/name_m] “[name_m]Jove[/name_m]” ([name_m]Jupiter[/name_m] was the king of gods in [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology, [name_m]Jove[/name_m] was the original name but the Romans switched it to [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m].)
[name_u]Neptune[/name_u]
[name_u]Rigel[/name_u] (name of a star, it’s one of the brightest stars in the sky)
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_f]Moon[/name_f]
[name_m]Aries[/name_m]
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m] (mission that took people to the moon)
Cosmos
[name_u]Mars[/name_u]
[name_u]Oberon[/name_u] (the name of the major moon of Uranus)
[name_u]Jericho[/name_u] (means city of the moon)
[name_m]Perseus[/name_m] (constellation)
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] (constellation)
[name_m]Castor[/name_m] “[name_m]Cas[/name_m]” or “[name_f]Cassie[/name_f]” (the name of the brightest star in the [name_u]Gemini[/name_u] constellation)
[name_u]Ariel[/name_u] (the shiniest moon in Uranus)
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] (Greek titan of astronomy)
[name_f]Io[/name_f] (one of the Galilean moons)
[name_u]Sol[/name_u] (means sun)
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f] (second largest moon of [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m])
[name_m]Galileo[/name_m]

I tried to include some gender neutral names or more feminine nicknames. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

Thank you @AdroitArtemis for such a thoughtful reply and some wonderful suggestions.

I was aware of the mythological origin of [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] and the princess link which gave me some pause for its suitability but then I looked up the meaning and it said “advising like a man” which made it seem more possible when tied also with the constellation. I like [name_u]Romy[/name_u] too.

Of your other suggestions

[name_u]Ariel[/name_u] is a name I go back and forth on, but can’t shake the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid link. But [name_m]Aries[/name_m] seems like it could be a good alternative and is a unisex name.

[name_u]Rigel[/name_u] - I love the meaning.

[name_f]Moon[/name_f] sounds a bit hippy

I like the sound of [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] but don’t like the link to destruction and the same with [name_m]Perseus[/name_m]. It’s also the same with [name_u]Mars[/name_u]. I think that sounds very cool and with [name_u]Elon[/name_u] Musk, [name_u]Mars[/name_u] is very in vogue at the moment, but I don’t like the God of War link.

[name_u]Oberon[/name_u] I love the link to [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] and nn [name_m]Obi[/name_m] would give it a [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars link too.

[name_m]Castor[/name_m] made me think of oil although I love the nn [name_u]Cass[/name_u] or [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] and the meaning.

[name_u]Gemini[/name_u], nn [name_f]Gem[/name_f], I think would be cute.

[name_f]Io[/name_f] I actually thought of while I was away from the computer and was really thinking it could work. But then I looked it up. It’s the name of a princess from Greek Mythology loved by [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] and so is similar to [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] in that sense. She was turned into a cow which put me off completely…

[name_u]Sol[/name_u] I think is nice but there are others I like more.

[name_f]Callisto[/name_f], nn [name_f]Callie[/name_f] - while it has the female Greek mythological reference, it is also a boys name in Italian, but I don’t have any Italian heritage so it could be hard to pull that meaning off.

[name_m]Galileo[/name_m] - I like the meaning and the reference to [name_m]Galileo[/name_m] Galilei .

Again, thank you so much.

Celeste and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] are gorgeous

Skye and [name_u]Nova[/name_u] fit well

I kind of like [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_u]Seren[/name_u] and I think [name_u]Nova[/name_u] could work on a boy too!

You might also like [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] or [name_u]Evren[/name_u] (meaning unisverse). I also knew a boy called [name_f]Star[/name_f]

I keep stumbling onto your posts, we must have similar interests!

I think [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] was originally for boys in Hebrew. It also just sounds cute for a boy if you can get the mermaid image out of your head.

I can’t think of boy astronomy names atm other than what others have already mentioned. Maybe [name_f]Aster[/name_f] or [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]?

You already know I like [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] (for both genders). I also like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_u]Nova[/name_u].
