At the hospital

My wife and I are torn between two names for our son: [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]

I love the name [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. I really like [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] too and it has a nice nn of [name_m]Linc[/name_m] to go with it. Our other two kids have nicknames, but we don’t feel super tied to that pattern per se. I know this is pretty vague but we are at a standstill since his birth. Looking for any thoughts or suggestions.

Congratulations on the new baby!
I think I prefer [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] nn [name_m]Linc[/name_m], but both are lovely names. Does one of them go better with your other two children? What middle name will you be using?

I have a [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] so I’m a bit bias. We call him [name_m]Link[/name_m]. We get lots of compliments from people of all ages about how handsome it is and how much they love meeting a baby [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m].

Would love to know what your other children’s names are?

I prefer [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]-so cute and classic! But both are great and you can’t go wrong.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Much appreciated.
Siblings are [name_m]Jaxen[/name_m] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] nn [name_m]Jax[/name_m] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f]/Livi

Given that you already have a [name_m]Jaxen[/name_m] (which I’m assuming is pronounced like [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]), maybe steer clear of [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], since both names are presidential? (if you’re in the U.S., that is).

In any event, I prefer [name_u]Emmett[/name_u].

Best of luck!

[name_m]Jaxen[/name_m], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] make a great sibset

Perhaps [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]?

[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] is quite a bit more popular than [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and Nameberry projects it will go up to number 5 in the next ten years, so that could be a deciding factor either way depending on what’s important to you.

Personally, I prefer [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. It reminds me of [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] “[name_m]Doc[/name_m]” [name_m]Brown[/name_m] in Back to the [name_u]Future[/name_u], but I think [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] is a good choice. If you’re concerned with what sounds best with your other children’s names, I think [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] is better, but [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] doesn’t feel out of place in the slightest either.

You may just get a feel for which one fits your son better once he’s born. Or, you could wait a few weeks before registering his name and probably in that time one or the other will stick. Maybe both for a first and middle if you aren’t already set on a middle?

Both names are cute, but I think [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] goes better with the sibset. [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] or [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] would be a cute fn/mn combo, unless you have your heart set on another middle name.

I would go with [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] so you don’t have [name_m]Jax[/name_m], [name_f]Liv[/name_f] & [name_m]Linc[/name_m] … [name_m]Jax[/name_m], [name_f]Liv[/name_f] & Emm also so your two boys names don’t both end in -n. That said I like both and both go well with your other children. Congratulations on number 3!!!

I was about to say [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], and then I saw his siblings names. [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] for sure. [name_m]Jaxen[/name_m], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], [name_m]Jax[/name_m], [name_f]Liv[/name_f], and [name_m]Linc[/name_m] go together the best.

I love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]!!
