Atalanta

[name]Do[/name] you think this name is usable? Wdyt of it in general? X

I like it and do think it’s usable, I’d just be afraid there’d be people who mistake it as just a misspelling of [name]Atlanta[/name].

I agree that it’s usable, but it will most likely be mistaken for [name]Atlanta[/name]. For this reason, I would probably never use it personally. I really like the story of [name]Atalanta[/name] though.

I love the sound of [name]Atalanta[/name], however I’ve never heard of the name (or story) before so at first I thought you were misspelling [name]Atlanta[/name].

Damn haha. Yeah I thought that too. It’s a shame though, the story is lovely and it is really beautiful…hm  thanks guys!

Oddly enough there was a book I read when I was younger, part of a series and in it was a unicorn named [name]Atalanta[/name]. So… I will be the odd one out who thinks of unicorns.

I automatically changed it to [name]Atlanta[/name] in my head initially. I do think it’s cute, but the confusion factor would be too much for me to use it. Sorry.

I don’t think it’s useable either. If your family is Greek, then it could work, but other than that it just seems really out there and I agree with the above posters who mention that people will think [name]Atlanta[/name] first and assume you made a mistake or just made up some weird spelling of it.

I honestly thought it was typo and you meant to ask about using [name]Atlanta[/name] as a name… So I think it’s usable, but most likely will be mistaken with [name]Atlanta[/name].

I knew what you meant, but I went about five years after first reading about [name]Atalanta[/name] to realize it wasn’t [name]Atlanta[/name]. My brain just insisted on seeing [name]Atlanta[/name]!

As others said, it would mostly likely be thought of as a misspelling. I do know the origin, and while I like the story I don’t particularly like this as a name. It’s like [name]Atlanta[/name] or [name]Atlantis[/name] and feels more like a place than a person.

I’d go for [name]Atlantis[/name] for similarity but less “OMG can she not spell her own kid’s name?!” problems

Of course, it does change the meaning.

It is okay. Not sure how usable it is…

I think it’s usable and quite pretty.

Familiar with the myth, but really, first association is the version in “[name]Free[/name] to Be You and Me” haha.

I like the story behind it and it sounds nice enough, but I don’t think it is really usable.

There are little girls named [name]Persephone[/name], so why not? Though, some will mistake it for [name]Atlanta[/name], [name]Atalanta[/name] is a beautiful name with nns of [name]Tali[/name] and [name]Atti[/name].

For people outside the US it’s beautiful & highly useable. People who aren’t American don’t have that much cause to think of an American city for no reason and just read it how it is.

jenna5128 you’re so right. unfortunately i’m American :’) thanks for all your comments! lol
