Athena

Hello everyone. As it stands I love my combo for baby girl due in [name]July[/name]. ([name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Atia[/name]) While I was considering this though, I was also tossing around [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Athena[/name]. I liked that she was the [name]Goddess[/name] of wisdom  I think I decided I wasn’t brave enough though, and hubby feels the same way. I hear a lot that anything goes in the middle, so I was curious to see how you berries feel about the name [name]Athena[/name] or something similar in the middle spot. Or if you would use a name like it for your own children.

I’m not a fan, sorry. Greek mythology isn’t really my thing, and I remember seeing this State Farm billboard when I was a little kid, and the insurance agent was [name]Athena[/name] something or other. I remember thinking it was really pretentious, and I can’t shake the feeling even now. It’s a nice name, but I just can’t get behind it. I do have a thing for place name Athens, though–could have the same connections, but without the pretentious vibes, for me, anyway (although I suppose it could be argued that it’s trendy/too place-namey/could be more masculine…). I knew an Athens in college, and I thought it was a really awesome, spunky choice. I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] Athens would be really cool, personally.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Athena[/name] is beautiful and melodic to my ears. [name]Athena[/name] is a substantial, gorgeous middle name! That said, I cannot get behind the origins of the name.

I love [name]Athena[/name], and her [name]Roman[/name] counterpart [name]Minerva[/name]. I think I’d be okay with [name]Minerva[/name] in the first name spot, but [name]Athena[/name] only in the middle most likely.

I adore [name]Athena[/name]! I feel it has a bit more substance than [name]Atia[/name] and gives the classic [name]Elizabeth[/name] a bit of a kick  I’ve only met one [name]Athena[/name] before, but she was pretty cool, so I’d love to meet another.

Use it! Its beautiful and unique but not so much that people will do a double take. Im a little biased though since Athénaïs is the name I intend to give my daughter if given the chance to use it.

I love [name]Athena[/name]. She has a special place with me, so of course I love it. She’s the [name]Goddess[/name] of crafts and strategy as well as wisdom, for your info. I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Athena[/name] is gorgeous! I like it much better than your current choice and it has so much more depth.

Also, I find it interesting that so many people on here love the [name]Roman[/name] counterparts ([name]Minerva[/name], [name]Juno[/name], those names) but find the Greek pretentious. Why aren’t the [name]Roman[/name] counterparts pretentious?

Anyway, [name]Athena[/name] is a lovely name choice and of course I love it! <3

love it!! SOO PRETTY!!!

As a Greek, I’ve only heard of [name]Athena[/name] on other Greek women. I don’t know if it makes me a snob or what, but I would find it strange to meet someone named [name]Athena[/name] who was not Greek. [name]Just[/name] my opinion.

Ditto Dantea that it’s strange how people seem to love the [name]Roman[/name] mythology names but not the Greek ones. Personally I find [name]Athena[/name] much more usable in the first spot than [name]Minerva[/name]. Considering we encourage names like [name]Persephone[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name] all the time I would’ve thought [name]Athena[/name] was no big deal.

I actually love the name [name]Athena[/name]. I’ve known two - one was my mom’s BFF when I was a kid (she had no Greek ancestry), and the other was actually an [name]Asian[/name] woman. I think it’s totally gorgeous, although the double -th sound in [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Athena[/name] is off-putting to me because it’s so close together. If it was [name]Athena[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], I think it would flow better, but either way it’s a beautiful name. Good luck!

I like [name]Athena[/name], but I do prefer [name]Minerva[/name]. @dantea: I like [name]Minerva[/name] for the fact that she is less known than [name]Athena[/name], kind of like a hidden gem. At least in my country:) [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Athena[/name] is gorgeous, and I like [name]Athena[/name] more than [name]Atia[/name]

I adore the name [name]Athena[/name]!!! Please use it, it’s stunning!
