We’re expecting our 3rd daughter in [name_u]November[/name_u] and I’ve been contemplating [name_f]Athena[/name_f] for our final child. If you met a little [name_f]Athena[/name_f] what would be your reaction? Her middle name would be [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] Mad-uh-lyn if we went with this name.
I’d think it was a beautiful and strong name. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is a sweet combo. Go for it!
Thank you ! We’ve gotten positive feedback from friends in real life. I just worry that it might be too much. I love Greek Mythology and I’m adopted Greek. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is dh’s top name this time around and originally I was planning on committing to it, but I’m having a hard time.
What about [name_f]Athena[/name_f] don’t you like? If you don’t mind my asking? I feel like you either love it or hate it.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] isn’t my cup of tea, but I think it’s perfectly acceptable. It ranks pretty high in the US (#117), so I definitely wouldn’t find it out of the ordinary or “too much”. I actually knew one about 10 years ago (I think she’s 11 or 12 now). [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] sounds very sweet
Thank you! I know of a little girl name [name_f]Athena[/name_f] who’s 2 years old. She’s half Filippino. Her mom worked with my husband. That’s the only reason I’m hesitant on using it. I don’t want to seem like I’m copying her.
I understand that, but it’s not like this woman will be in your life forever. I would still use it if it’s The Name.
I love both [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] so this gets a huge YES! from me
We’re friends on Facebook, but live in different towns. I barely see anything from her. Ironically her son’s name was also on our list [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. He was just born this year. I know it’s become popular, but thankfully less so than [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]. This is our last child so I don’t want either of us to have regrets.
Thank you
I love it!
Athena is a lovely strong ethereal name it’s a great choice packed with great connotations as the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of war, strategy & wisdom. She is also considered a patron and protectress of many cities across Greece including Athens therefore conjuring up gorgeous imagery of strength the ultimate feminist. If I met an [name_f]Athena[/name_f] I would think what a cool name and probably want to know if she had siblings and what their names were. [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is lovely
Thank you
I completely understand. We got a puppy in [name_u]November[/name_u] and named him [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]. If he’d been a girl she would have been [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. I don’t love [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] myself. Although Professor McGonagall was pretty cool.
I really like it! [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] goes very nicely together. I think you should go for it.
Thank you! I’ve been trying out the name seeing how I like the feel of it. [name_f]My[/name_f] oldest daughter is mimicking me, but she’s pronouncing it [name_f]Aphia[/name_f]. I’ve been trying to her how to correctly pronounce it. [name_f]My[/name_f] girls names are [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] and [name_f]Marina[/name_f]. I know [name_f]Athena[/name_f] isn’t ideal with [name_f]Marina[/name_f], but at least it’s the ending that’s similar and not the first names.
Thank you! I’ve been getting positive feedback from [name_f]Athena[/name_f] when I mention it to those in person.
I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f] so much! It’s so beautiful and strong. Definitely one of the most perfect names I can think of!
[name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is lovely too!
Thank you ! I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea
Thank you . I appreciate that.
