Aubrey and August?

My husband and I both like [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] for a girl but we have a son named [name_u]August[/name_u] and I’m just afraid of it being too close. He goes by Auggie most of the time (at least now while he’s little) but he also goes by AJ (his initials). I also like [name_u]Avery[/name_u], but my husband feels he’s heard it more often where we live. Thoughts? And I’m not a fan of [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. Thanks!

They do share the same beginning sound but it isn’t terrible. They are both nice names. I know someone who has a [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] and a [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] and they are fine with it so I think it depends if it bothers you. Maybe [name_f]Ava[/name_f]?

In my opinion, it’s a little excessive, but if your okay with that go for it!

It’s not a huge deal, but it would bother me so I wouldn’t do it. [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] get rid of the awkward repetitiveness that would be bothering for me.

Too similar. Choose a name that doesn’t start with Au

I think [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] are fine. There’s plenty of worse combinations that could happen. It’s not exactly [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and [name_f]Mya[/name_f], after all.

I’d normally say that [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] are fine, but if [name_u]August[/name_u] goes by Auggie, it shares not just the beginning but the ending and is a bit close for me. If they would be called [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] I don’t see a problem. You could also use [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] but call her [name_f]Bree[/name_f] or another nickname that doesn’t sound too similar to Auggie.

Too similar for my taste…especially if he goes by Auggie. For what it’s worth, I know of more Aubreys than Averys.
