Auburn - Boy or Girl?

I was wondering what people view it as?

I like it for a boy, (maybe with the NN [name]Burn[/name]?) If most people see it as a girls name then it’s probably more suitable as a guilty pleasure for me…

WDYT?

I think of,it as a girls name.

It’s a hair colour to me. I don’t find [name]Burn[/name] to be an attractive word either. A burn is not a nice thing.

It isn’t a name imo.

[name]Burn[/name] would make a terrible nickname. [name]Bernie[/name] would be acceptable, although not overly appealing.

Mmm… maybe it’s best for my guilty pleasure list!

The main character of the first book I wrote was a girl named [name]Auburn[/name], but I think it’s suited for both genders. But for girls it has the nickname of Aubi, which makes it a lot more viable as a name.

A girl’s name, in my opinion. Out of color names, I much prefer [name]Indigo[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Sage[/name], and even [name]Violet[/name].

If I’d hear it as a name, I’d think it’s definitely a girl.

Agreed!!!

Thanks for the replies! Definitely putting it on my GP list, it seems that it would be better on there :stuck_out_tongue:

I like it for a boy. It’s not an attractive sound for a girl so I’m not understanding how people are seeing it as a girl name. Auby can be a boy nn too. I grew up near a neighborhood called [name]Auburn[/name] [name]Trace[/name] and it always sounded like a guy’s name to me.

It would be so cute on a girl or a boy. Go for it!

I think of it as a hair color, then a university in [name]Alabama[/name]. But if I had to assign a gender, I guess a boy?

Yeah, it’s definitely a hair color and a university rather than a name in my mind. It’s also my hair color, so meeting a person named [name]Auburn[/name] would weird me out regardless of gender. It would be like naming your child Blonde.
