We have a little boy called Teddy and we’ve finally decided on a girls name but so stuck on a boys name. I love the name Jesse, my boyfriend likes Sonny…we don’t like each other’s names!
Auden is a name I love and he’s ok with, just worried it’s too different to Teddy and nicknames? Any other suggestions welcome
I honestly don’t think that they’re that different at all! [name_u]Auden[/name_u] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] both have a very calming, literary vibe to me…I love them together!
I’d associated [name_u]Auden[/name_u] with a girl but makes more sense as a boy. [name_m]Orson[/name_m] could be a good option too - as a way to [name_u]Sonny[/name_u].
I don’t find them dissimilar at all and agree that they both have a literary vibe. I also like pp suggestion of [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Monty[/name_m], and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] and [name_m]Foster[/name_m] came to mind based on [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] and [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]. And I do like [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and [name_m]Orson[/name_m] but tbh not keen on [name_u]Sonny[/name_u].
While I find them to be pretty different in style, it’s not absolutely crazy or unimaginable for a [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] to have an [name_u]Auden[/name_u] as a brother. They both sound soft and sort of literary, like others have said. I liked the suggestion of [name_m]Orson[/name_m], although [name_m]Orson[/name_m] means bear cub, which might be a bit much with a [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. (Also, I don’t know if there is a lot of [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers where you live, but ourson is one of the [name_m]French[/name_m] words for teddy bear, at least where I am)
Anyways, congrats on the baby, and hope you settle on a name you love!
I don’t think they’re too different! [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] & [name_u]Auden[/name_u] are both 5 leftters, have an E and a D, 2 syllables, gentle but uplifting sound.
I think [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is a good nickname, but not as a whole name. [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] is ok, but there’s so many girl [name_u]Jessie[/name_u]'s, that I just don’t know how usable it is!
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]? [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] & [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] totally sound like brothers to me. My other top choice would be [name_m]Leo[/name_m] - because like [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], it’s a nickname name that easily stands on it’s own, short, 2 syllables, is associated with an animal ([name_u]Teddy[/name_u] - bear, [name_m]Leo[/name_m] - [name_m]Lion[/name_m]) and it’s on trend! I can easily picture [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] having a little brother named [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
