Audrey and Amelia or Audrey and Emilia???

We are trying to name our second girl due in [name_f]October[/name_f] (our first is named [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]). Right now the only name we both agree on is [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but I’m nervous about going with the #2 name. Recently I’ve been warming up to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] - both are beautiful names to me - but I’m stuck on a few things and need help!

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]:

  • [name_u]Love[/name_u] that it is a royal classic
  • I don’t love that it also starts with A so we’d have two A names ([name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]). Not necessarily bad, but for some reason I find it mildly irritating. I could get over it though. And I think they are a nice match.
  • It’s also very popular so why rule out [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] if we choose this?

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]:

  • [name_u]Love[/name_u] that it is a very internationally appealing name with Shakespearean roots
  • [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname options “[name_f]Em[/name_f]” “[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Mila[/name_f]” ([name_f]Mila[/name_f] seems like a stretch with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f])
  • But are we setting her up for a lifetime of confusion / misspelling between [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]???

(BTW - middle name will be [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], or [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Kate[/name_f] - suggestions on middle name pairings are also welcome)!!!

I much prefer [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], for all the reasons you listed. [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f] are very cute nns. I think both are established enough that a girl named either [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] will get asked which spelling it is sometimes, and will have to correct people sometimes

I’d go with [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] if having the same letter will bother you (I’m the same way too), especially if you want more kids you won’t feel like you have to stick with A names or leave any other kids out. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] get my vote!

I like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] best with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. If starting with the same letter is okay with you, you could use [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] if you wanted a little less common name.

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] best with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but any of the middle names you listed sound great!

I much prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] even though they are pronounced the same. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] has always been the character from Vanity Fair for me, so offputting for that reason. And for the reasons you have given, I would choose [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. Many names raise spelling confusions - I find that quite inescapable and something many people live with, so that would not put me off.

I much prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] would be my pick for combo.

I work at a bakery that does cake design, and even if the name to be written on the cake is [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], I ALWAYS ask how it is to be spelled. There are so many variants of ‘obvious’ or ‘common’ names, as well as the more unusual names, so I really don’t think spelling need be too much of an issue when naming today, myself.

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is very beautiful + goes perfectly with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], so I don’t think you could really go wrong with either spelling. However, I slightly prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] over [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. I know they should be pronounced the same, but the ‘A’ of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] makes me think Uh - mee - lee - uh versus the ‘E’ of [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] sounds more like Eh - mee - lee - uh to my ear (blame the Saccone-Jolys). [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] would be my pick, so regal!

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely! [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] are both beautiful. I usually prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] goes perfectly with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]!

I loooove [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and much prefer it over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I don’t know why exactly, there’s just something more elegant and sophisticated about [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for me. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is marvelous!
